BTW the movie already released today. You are asking for trailers when should be asking for the movie itself.

Well, I am interested in Om Shanti Om only because of the title song featuring 30 filmstars. And Saawariya being one of the first ventures by Hollywood Studios in Indian cinema.

I think OM Shanti Om is an all out entertainment full of masala, where as Saawariya is  another one of  Sanjay Leela Bhansali's trademark tearjerkers. Given a choice I will go to see Om Shanti Om because I seek entertainment in Indian cinema.

Well, I guess OSO was made for the masses and Sawariya for the classes. I am sure Sawaraiya will garner critical acclaim - just like Bhansali's other films like Khamoshi The Musical, Devdas and Black. Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam was probably his only box office Smash. In my opinion Black was a superb movie and Bhansali was able to extract the best of the acting ability from both Amitabh and Rani Mukherjee.

.Guys,
Though, I am not a movie critic but after seeing "Saawariya" I couldn't resist myself to write few lines. Actually, I do love watching hardcore masala Bollywood movies and the offbeats one too.

Regardless of hype, I went for "Saawariya" for two varied reasons: firstly it was directed none other tha SLB and secondly it was the first movie ever to be produced by Hollywood (Sony Pictures/Columbia) with a 350 million USD budget. What's the outcome, a "TOTAL CRAP" and trust me guys, this movie is going to be the biggest flop of the year. I have seen SLB earlier masterpieces like "Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam" "Khamosi" and "Black" but this movie is his not even close to any of his earlier product.

Except the newcomers (Ranbir and Sonam), this movie has nothing new to offer and its anything but a teen age love story. This is what you get when you have a bad plot, poor dialouges and a good director at his worst.

Believe me, you dont wanna spend your hard earned 10$ for such a disaster. Infact, they should pay you back for tolerating it for almost 2 and half hrs. (There was a huge clap from the audience at the end, not because it was good but finally the movie was over)
My verdict: 1.5 out of 5

And for the one who said its for the classes.....duhhhhhhh

TABZ

So, Sawariya is a dud. I guess that's what happens when a director of Bhansali's calibre has to work under a big hollywood studio.

tabasco, Saawariya "the first movie ever to be produced by Hollywood (Sony Pictures/Columbia) with a 350 million USD budget."

350 million USD budget = Spiderman 3 + Transformers + 2 * (Kungfu Hustler).

Are you sure about the figure? I don't even think it's the first Hindi movie produced by the Hollywood. The Guru Dutt masterpiece "Kagaz Ke Phool" was made by 20th Century Fox, and if you watch the movie again, you will notice it at the beginning -- and it's worth watching more than many times. Saawariya is the first movie produced by SONY pictures. I hope they produce more of those "Kung Fu Hustlers".

Me? The only hindi movie I really wanna watch right now is Aamir Khan's "Gajani". I guess I have to wait till the next year for that. Until then, "Eklavya" is still one of the satisfying Hindi movies I have watched in recent years.

Tabasco, you probably mean $35 Million and not $350 Million, although even $35M is a stretch.

There has never been a movie made with the budget of $350 Million.  Even the mega Hollywood movie with A-list stars have the budget of not more than $150 Million.  The only exception is the supposedly most expensive movie ever made, Spiderman 3, which Sony says it made for $326 Million, though almost everybody in the industry believes the actual figure was less than half of that.

$326  million for a  mega-crap called Spiderman3? LOL. That movie was a total disappointment. It had so much going on in that movie that by the time the movie ended, I was totally exhausted -- and I didn't like that one bit. Actually, when the Transformers came out, it came out as a breeze compared to Spidy. Such an awesome black suit and dual personality wasted on Toby's booty Shakin'... ha!! "Dude, you got 2 hot girls in the movie, let em do the shakin' thing -- you don't jump in the territory unwarned -- People could be eatin'".

Spiderman 3 will always be remembered for how they killed the amazing characters of Venom and Sandman. Sandman might get another chance, but Venom -- well he will need the spin-off -- and now, no one is interested. heeh!!

btw, if the inflation is taken into account, Ben Hur could become the most expensive movie ever made. Just imagine, it took 9 months just to shoot the Chariot Race Scene. ha... 9 months? With so many extras and huge friggin' set? Just imagine that. :)

Well, what is Om Shanti Om about?  The usual hindi formula?

Two guys are in love with same girl, one guy dies.  Or two girls are in love with one guy, one girl dies.

Or guy meets girl, both like each other, but parents are against each other, and then something happens which lead to total reconciliation or the guy and girl die while the families regret.

Or two guys are friends, they meet two girls who are also friends.  Friends hook up with friends.  That's about it.

Or one rich guy falls in love with an average girl who is actually already hooked up with another average guy.  The rich guy uses all his money and charm to win the girl over.  Seems like he is winning because now the girl dumps the average guy and hooks up with the rich guy.  But suddenly, the average guy somehow becomes rich too.  He uses his new found wealth to ruin the previously rich guy.  His old girlfriend becomes hissa budhi khiss daat.  The newly rich guy manages to find a rich girl who has the heart of gold.

Well, there are few more formulae, but these four probably covered 90% of the plot twists in all hindi movies.

BTW, why do I find Salman Khan acting like monkey in all his movies.  And Sahrukh Khan has same bloody acting in all of his.  I like Ajay Devgan much more than those two Khans, but he is also surly and depressed in all his movies for some reason.  Now, Amir Khan, he is something else.  I like most of the movies he is in.  As for female actors, I can't think of single Indian heroine worth mentioning, nah, not even that Rai-ni.

I Watched OSO in the late night 10pm show yesterday night in FunAsia Richardson. Luckily I paid extra to reserve the tickets online as the show was already housefull!!!!

Well I expected a lot from this movie having enjoyed SRK's and Farah Khan's Main Hoon Na  But I have to say that this flick is strictly OK. The story is good but the way it is handled is not A-Grade. The dialogues are irritatingly repetitive, Farah Khan's direction and the movie's screenplay is so bad. However, the actors were good, SRK was at his usual masala best, Deepika is beautiful and can also act, the IQBAL guy and Arjun Rampal was okay. Songs were good but one too many. The climax took me by surprise and I kinda liked the little twist.

The movie will be a super-hit for sure as its major competitor Saawariya is being thumb-downed by most of the critics and even the general public.

.Thanks guys

I was definetly wrong about the figures. It was supposed to be 350 million Indian Rupees and not USD. Regarding Hollywood production, I had read it in one of the articles published in Indiatimes few months back. May be, I got it wrong. Thanks for pointing it out Kalanki.
