Fix new date after reaching understanding, says CEC
The
Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Bhojraj Pokharel has urged the
political parties to fix the new date of Constituent Assembly (CA)
election after reaching understanding among themselves first.
“It is not good to keep on fixing dates and not honouring them,†he said referring to the twice postponed CA polls.
Pokharel
told journalists that the EC is ready to hold polls by mid-March if the
parties agree to hold it in the existing mixed system. He said
additional time will be needed to accommodate full proportional
representation, if that is agreed upon.
Earlier,
Chinese ambassador to Nepal Zheng Xianglin handed over election
materials worth Rs 8.4 crore to the EC. He expressed hopes for early
election. nepalnews.com sd Nov 12 07
