Hello Fellow Nepali Friends,

I was thinking about immigrating to New Zealand from US. Seems like its gonna take me another 5 years in US to get a permanent residency. Is it worth struggling another  5 years in US or I will be better off if I start a new life in New Zealand.

How is Neapalese community in New Zealand, how is life overall over there- money, people, transportation, racism, sports, alcohol restrictions, khasi ko masu, environment, raising family, education, etc.

All comments are welcomed.

Only serious comments please, it is a matter of upmost importance.

Thanks.

Earning less than US.
People better than US.
Car is cheaper and if u have family you need most.
No racism at all.
Sports no worries.
Khasi, mirga, bheda every thing available.
Enviroment air polluted.
Easy raising family.
Wonderful nepalese around.
Education good for university level. Can't compare school with US, its moderate here.
No politics.

What do you want more?
Chrs

Next to beautiful Nepal, is beautiful New Zealand. The country would remind you of your Motherland except for the ocean. The sceneries look like postcards. The people are warm-hearted like Nepalis. The education system is excellent. Life is well balanced. No rush...no stress. Ample time to sit by the beach and feed the birds. Have to learn to bear the cold winters plus cold winds. Great to drive from North Island to South Island. No temptation to go shopping unless necessary. Public transport system is well timed. Cost of living is high. Good salaries but high taxes. Welfare needs are met. Great place to retire. Good choice.

I spent two years in Christchurch on the South Island in New Zealand and based on my experience, if I hadn't received my Green Card here, I would have moved to this beautiful nation where life is serene and simple.  There is a very closely knit Nepalese community of about a hundred and fifty strong although I think the number is much more now as I left in 2002.  With a population of about four million, the country has eighty cattle and one hundred and forty sheep for each person, therefore, you wouldn't have to worry about fresh meat, butter and milk.  Racism is almost non-existent except for a few run-ins between the Kiwis and Iwis.  The people there are extremely polite and almost everyone has a car.  The city is full of parks and has an abundance of greenery and streams with fishes.  Sports is mainly rugby and cricket although soccer is now on the rise.  Even though taxes are high, you get all the benefits that society deserves, hence, no complaints.  The educational system is of a very high standard all the way from pre-school to university level.  For US$100,000.00, you can buy a very nice detached, three bedroom, two garage house in a nice neighborhood close to the international airport near Memorial Avenue.  To sum it up, if you want to raise a family in a peaceful and clean environment, New Zealand is the place you should head for.

Two questions:

1. What is the employment situation like?

2. How does New Zealand compare to Australia?

New Zealand rocks!
....Minimum crime rate..close to nature, cute kiwis(well ...not so cute actually), quite high employment rate, high standard of living, less hectic, friendlier, less materialistic,.happy families... car ownership rate is one of the world's highest, butter and cheese highly consumed, quality education, more disciplined kids.......
New Zealand is better than US in SO many ways and  I'd say the best place to live in the world.

Just heard somewhere "The other side of grass always looks GREENER

Does NZ really rock? For me, it seems totally isolated country.

Hoping to hear more from sajha friends all the way from New Zealand.....
