let us now be civilized and help to get rid of these system in Nepal. It is so sad and heart breaking.

Guys we need to do more about these things. Many of you are very aware that caste discrmination against dalits occurs in daily life yet many of you just remain silence.

The government has not done enough for the dalits because they are FAGGOTS and  Hindus!!!

Mind if I ask you, what religion do the dalit follow? If they follow Hinduism, then I have no simpathy for being so stupid, being discriminated by the same religion you follow when you have other choices. The rudimantery flaw of Hindu religion, caste system have existed for thousand of years,, it won't go away tomorrow. The only solution is to change to a different religion, it will give them, if nothing else, a piece of mind.

Bob Marleyji,

Unfortunately the change of religion also does not help the Dalits much. A lot of dalits in India converted to Islam. Do you know what happened? They were categorized as "Ajlaf" or low-born and "Arzal" or "degraded" equivalent to so called "untouchables". The reason is just by changing the religion does not change anything overnight. They live in the same community and the caste ridden society just does not intermingle with them the next day just because they belong to a different religion now. The society finds a new ways to keep them "untouchables".

Babasaheb Ambedkar tried to convert untouchables to Buddhism to get rid of the stigma attached with it but it did not work. The only way to get rid of this social injustice is by reforming the society regardless of what religion it follows.

krishna, the great God

I said very clearly to get "a piece of mind". I know it won't change, there're not whole lot of choice. Thousands years of practise, it's almost impossible. What exactly went wrong converting to Buddhist, since they've no class system in their belief. I'd really like to have a detail of the things that didn't work after converting to Buddhist. I'm not talking of theories that you pull off your ass. How did it go wrong? I'm pretty sure, if they didn't relocate to some other place after converting to Buddist, things won't matter.

"reforming the society regardless of what religion it follows"-I think hinduism is the issue here, there're better options and choices for poor peoples.

bob marley ! I think you are really confused with  ur religion . All religions have their draw backs and their strong points ...
As for discrimination , i think you saying change into some other religion , You wouldn't mind changing yourmom or ur father either ... Your progative inlife is wrong , you r who u r , regardless having drawbacks...

Bhote , newar , jyapu etc ... hmmm .. did i offend u ?   ( yes ) ... i meant to discriminate you ...

This video is a good one , will take some time in the society for the discrimination to be washed out , but we r on its way .... we will get it out of our society ...

Bob marley ta sarki ho hai ?  Ki damai hos ? ... hmmmm.... did i not hit the nerve .. hahahah

Marleyji,

Just look for how Buddhism failed Dalits in India you will find a lot of interesting information. Now mind you, it's not the fault of the religion itself. How could there be fault  in the Great Buddha who never said he was god and showed the world path to Nirvana? It's the people who follow him. Just because somebody converted to Buddhism or any other religion for that matter they will not be "egalitarian", "peace loving" overnight. People carry their cultural baggage. How do you expect centuries old tradition to just vanish instantly after conversion?

And how would mass relocation work? Won't they carry their baggage with them wherever they go? And remember even within "dalits" there exist caste system. Won't it have followed them wherever they went?

There are a few lucky people though.Several times in Nepal, a single person or a family moves to a new location and says that he/they are brahmins or chhettris. Interestingly, you can find several same last names between brahmins and "damai"/"kamis" like Ghimire, Regmi etc. Since this/these people are in a new place and do not have any evidence to tie them to their old location, they get away with it. I say good for them!! Finally they were able to get rid of their shackles!

Nos, I'm not offended at all. It doesn't mean a dime to me."Wrong" me?----so you think you're right huh.
"even within "dalits" there exist caste system" ---right there, that's the problem. They need to solve THAT problem before tackling the big guys. Till then, they cannot complain.
We can go on and on.....I'm leaving. Thanks guys

Bob Marley.. props to you my man... i admire your effort... and please.. don't listen to these budhi jeebys' here.. you are only trying to find a solution for an existing problem to one of the biggest problem....if not the biggest problem in our culture.. community..our country... but here you are .. ridiculed and critisized by our fellow countrymen.. who believe in gradual changes over the years... it doesn't matter if it takes another 100 years.. just imagine America without the civil war..  and civil rights movement... imagine the blacks still working the cotton fields.. imagine the women not having the rights to vote...

"wait for change" only gives an opportunity for poeple like Babu Ram.. Prachanda...rajendra mahato..to exploit and play with the emotions or sentiments of the victims of our cruel culture.. religion... customs and what not.

as a society... i know for fact that most of our countrymen don't agree with the current caste system bs....but at the same time we are only willing to be spectators hoping for a change...

"Freedom is never given; it is won." -A. Philip Randolph.. and for me it is won by peaceful measures.. in my opinion.. the first step towards a real change is awareness.. and the video post by marley has done just that for me.. ofcourse i knew about the caste discrimination bs in nepal.. but to this extent.. that i didn't know.. but now i know... and thanks to marley..

at the end.. this is just a thank you a note to Bob Marley.. and people like you who in your own little ways are trying to make a difference..

one love.. peace

how day. Very Impressive. I was trying to write the same thing, you wrote it much better than I ever could have. It is true that we are not giving enough attention towards the issue of caste discrimination and untouchability. I guess we are ignoring the problem and waiting till the matter gets real worse as usual.
