2009 is declared as the international year of Astronomy by UN. I am looking for a sponsor who could donate a 6-inch light bucket (Dobsonian Mount Telescope) to educate children of Nepal. (Its no kidding).

Here is more on the breaking news

Hulak Bro

Hulaki while your cause is good the method of implementation isnt that great. Scopes can be gotten
from india where they are quite cheap 2-3 th rupees which i think can be arranged if the school
really wants it. 10Rs/person donation will do it. I dont think you need high quality scopes in nepal
unless you want to take photographs and stuff. Just for star gazing thats enough.
And another solution is even economical and high quality scopes can be constructed. Just get couple
of lenses or Concave mirror from india and construct the scopes in nepal. I am sure it will be
educational to the students as well. Well I was able to construct a working telescope while I was
SLC level for about Rs 20 so I can assure you it isnt that hard.

Dobsonian Mount scopes are easy to operate..........thats the benefit. Hence I am looking for it. YOu dont need skills to make polar or equatorial mounting and all that............... just go out, fix it and start scanning the heavens.....

well there you go, you answered your own question. Problem solved.
As long as ease of operation is concerned, I think its bit of luxury to get
something from donated money. And we dont want our young astronomers
to get a piggyback ride. Who knows out of need they might invent something
totally ingenious. Keep the good work.

I know a person here who bought Tejraj scopes from India, but these are of poor quality reflecting newtonians. And I believe we deserve better quality scopes. As astrophotography is almost non existent in Nepal, we also want to start this aspect, so that good images are posted and printed in the media for public awareness and advocacy.

And the choice of scopes depends on your objectives. If you are buying for your individual use, then reflecting Newtonians are OK> But for Mass observation during star parties, you need something that is easy to use. My experience is that, when you organize star parties, the crowd wants to see many things in the same evening – the moon, available planets and some deep sky objects as well.

And 6-inch dobsonian scopes are not so expensive, and I believe will cost the same as the Indian scopes of the same size. Keeping on all this aspects, so why then jaat falne Gahat ko jhol-ma??

i agree with ImI. anyway there's no point learning Astronomy in Nepal!
i don't think Nepal will ever produce NASA scientist in the next 500 years.

huh so you want the telescope for your star party. I should have known. I thought your purpose
was to distribute telescopes among schools in remote nepalese areas. Well I am sure you are going to allow a lot of kids to see through the telescope but it entirely defeats the purpose. Well now I understand what you are
after,  all I can say is good luck. Man cant believe people can have nerves to ask for donation to buy some luxury
goods for themselves while unnumbered people dont have enough money to buy food and medecine.

WTF is $299.099 Is that a period instead of a comma or is there an extra zero? And WTF is a Kumai Bahun?

Hulaki writes, "Breaking News and REQUEST for help". What a waste of words????

Where is the breaking news here? Did I miss something? and I don't see him requesting for help. I see him more of forcing someone to help for his in individual cause.

And Hulaki, refrain from involving KUMAI BAHUN into this mess of yours.

Hulaki so you are a racist too, using terms like kumai bahun in degradedly sense. Hulaki you fkin already have a telescope and you want ANOTHER one from DONATED money!! And only $299!!!! if that is that cheap to you why dont you get it from your own money, you know some people actually have to WORK to earn money. Do you know how much do average people earn in a month in Nepal. Its Rs 3000/month. Now $299 is the monthly salary for 6 people. And you have nerves to come and ask for donation for your extra comfort. Oh well if it was for better cause like educating kids from really remote areas who have NEVER seen telescopes it would be fine. But the city kids already have information overload via internet and tvs and whatever. Well if you think your demand is okay, then how about I demand this. "Hey guys I already have a laptop but it is old and not really fast.
I really need a fast core2duo laptop with big screen so that i could educate the kids in nepal about computers."
Get your priorities right man.

Hulaki Bete,

Tum Yaha se kahin dooor chale jawo.

Tum Ye gandagi me fir kabhi na ana.

Ye chautari durbariya, dalal aur Gharbariya elements ka DEN ho gaya hai.

Lekin, Tum apni Mission par khade rehna.

The road to success is Mission followed by commitment.

Ye baat na bhulna.

Tumhari principle jo hai: Sher kabhi ghaaas khata nahi,

ye mujhe achha laga.

Bye, fir milenge.

Deepbro.

Hulaki dahling actually it's not dat i don't wanna help you. But i think the objective here is not appropriate in this case. As i told you Astronomy is not important in Nepal's education. There are more important priotities to be taught in Nepal education system instead of Astronomy.

For example Nepal's education system should try to educate the nation's about discrimination in our soceity.

Look at the caste system that stills exist in our society, the so called untouchable (dalits). i really feel for these people. Earlier i had posted thread and video of this so that Nepalese will be more aware of these. But i understand that these same Nepalis are not interested about eradicating this system. Also i feel that dowry system still exits in Nepal.

That's why i feel educating Nepali kids about astronomy are far less important than my priorities.

Man This shit went outta controll.

Hulaki, the true benefactors here are the kids not you.

No need to clarify how much time you are putting into this(almost sound like gloating that you are doing a favor to these kids).

If you want to help ...do it with your own heart NOT TO LOOK GOOD IN FRONT OF OTHERS.

Like the Human Fund. he he
