Hey, any Neps in and around Chicago? A relative of mine would be moving there so he's asked me to seek any advice as to the areas where Neps generally live and also the safer areas to live in...Also, are the areas around W. Jackson Blvd nice/safe? And, any Nep samaj/societies there? Any help is appreciated.

There are approximately 1200- 1400 Nepali in Greater Chicago. 700 to 800 live in City of Chicago alone. And most of them live in North Side. Did you say around Jackson BLVD? It depends. Jackson Blvd starts form downtown and goes west. If you live on Jackson Blvd near downtown that should be OK but forget about staying in Jackson BLVD out west. That's the real Ghetto. I dont know if have heard about WEST side and South side of Chicago. Believe me you dont even wanna drive by there. The average homicide in south side and west side is 3-4 a day. Tell your friend to find a place in North side or Up town or near Uptown. If money is not a problem and cannot go along with Nepalese community then tell him/her to live in Lincoln Park Neighborhood. That's the white neighborhood with easy commute to down town.

I was thinking of joining new CNFS but after reading your posting Casino, I will have to rethink. Too much hatred .. I am wondering if it's any different that Chicagoland Nepali Pariwar.

Thanks Phoenix...been away from Sajha for far too long and finally have a chance to respond to this thread. Will let you know if anything la. BTW, hope your Christmas went good.
