my friend is really in trouble, i need help from you people she came US on August, on J1, it was a one year visa, but she left the work after around 3 months because her host family did not want her as their employee, i don't know whether she is considered as out-of-status or not, so is it possible to change the status to F1 or F2 ?? any help will be appreciated guys...... and thanks to you in advance

i am not sure abt that but i got a friend who was over here in j1 and she apply for f1 and its takes like 150 days and she is still waiting for the deision of her case...i dont know abt if she is declared ut of status or not...but there are many other ways for her...if she is declared out of status than she can file political asylum unwilling to go back to the country........

roker, thanx for replying, but i dont know how to know that whether she is still in -status or out of status, and political asylum is a good idea, but also i would like to know more about changing to F1 or F2.

If there was a cluse about the two year rule then she has to go back and apply for another type of visa.
