Dude, I am thinking something different. I had heard about w-9 but never been envolved with it. Just curious, is it Investment income and no federal, state and fica has withheld. I am guessing it is not a self-employment income as an independent contractor, because you are not receiving 1099 mis form. There is now way you can escape in paying federal and state tax. Here you may have to pay FICA tax too. Some place it was talking about Tax Identification Number which is needed to Residence allien, if that is the case you may not be able to file 1040 rather has to use 1040 NR which gives you less deduction because you are treated as allien.

Can you explain little bit about your work nature and why you got w-9 form instead of 1099-div or similar.

Keep in touch.

While going through the irs web http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/iw9.pdf,  I am little bit interested in simple IRS things. If you do not mind to elaborate your business and about W-9.

Form IRS W-9

Use Form W-9 to request the taxpayer identification number (TIN) of a U.S. person (including a resident alien and to request certain certifications and claims for exemption. Withholding agents may require signed Forms W-9 from U.S. exempt recipients to overcome any presumptions of  foreign status. For federal purposes, a U.S. person includes but is not limited to::

An individual who is a U.S. citizen or U.S. resident alien,

A partnership, corporation, company, or association created or organized in the United States or under the laws of the United States.

Any estate (other than a foreign estate), or

A domestic trust (as defined in Regulations section

Sorry, you are first time filer and did you work with social security or without it? If you do not have social security number, you may not be able to work 7 different places, how ever how you are talking about W-9 made me curious about your theread.

It is kind of interesting thread , I like it because it is fun researching. This fellow did not provide further infos.

While filing taxes, we are trying to find loopholes to get better refund or pay less tax dollars following the rules. Lets hear the whole story. Do you have SS # or do you have a partnership and earned income from it??

If you are a resident alien or citizen of the United States and your filing status is single, you don't have to pay federal tax if your income is $8750 or less ($5350 + 3400 = 8750). If you are married and filing as married filing jointly, then you don't have to pay for additional 8750. However, you don't have to even file tax return if you income is less than 3400 as a single.
