Hi Friends,

I'm a regular sajha user. I appreciate the help that I usually get from sajha's sathi haru. Thanks a lot for that.

I've got a problem here. I installed a new win XP pro version called "WIN XP PROFESSIONAL ESSENTIAL V1.1 BASEBALL2525".

I put my previous ip address which I was using (without any problems). After installing this new "XP pro essential", I put the same ip address but it didn't work.

I have no idea what's going on. Have you ppl heard about this version. Please help me out.

Thanks in advance.

Brother it does not matter what ip-address you put and by the way there can be thousands of reasons.....

Let me go through with you some....

1. IP-address not in the same network.

2. You inserted the wrong subnet mask.

3. You defined the wrong gateway ip.

4. your network card is not correctly configured.

5. Diver not supported by your OS.

6. Network card firmware upgrade for your new OS.

and so on .... so on... so on........

Good luck.... If it was Linux i could have helped you better than this one.......

I simply hate windows..........

How about re-installing xp. Let it be configured automatically. Check network driver is working properly.

Wois, How about different xp say professional, not the same XP-ESSENTIAL??  When ever I upgrade or re-format, I do not have any problem in getting online. Is it not true that the IP address is recognized automatically after downloading the network driver??

IP-address is something that your Internet service Provider gives and its unique all over the world which is known as Private IP's. If you have a wireless router in your home and share different systems  with that router you would use Private IP. So, with single Public IP you can log on to internet from different systems.

You need to have a Public IP to be able to connect it to the Internet and you need private ip's to connect it to the network. IP is nothing but a set of rules that computers follow to complete certain task and IP address is just like your telephone number.

All in all its like you talking over the phone.....

I'm not trying to teach you what it is and how it works. You will find many good articles on the net...
Just chill...... Why don't you guys try linux over Windows so called XP... I'll bet you will never wanna go back again to window craps...........

Let me know if you want to try some open source..

2008 is for OPEN SOURCE.... TAKE MY WORDS..

We post for help and some time we get nasty responses ( always expected ) but most of the time we find solutions. The thread creater does not seem to be a computer savey that is the reason he started this thread. I do ot think he had a big problem rather than doing the right thing . If you can give step by step direction like map quest may be  the  best help.

I raised a simple question, re-downloading winow and drivers. Hook to internet, click to internet icon, go to tool and option and check on auto proxy ( may I am missing something ). Make sure the ethernet card is wroking properly. He or she should be able to get into internet. Am I close to right ??? You need to play around but do not alter or assign ip address or subnet or gatway.

Sometimes, computer may be unable to recognize ip address, may need to ipconfig. Releasing and renewing may help too, Am I right???

So, there must be a solution, unless computer itself has problem.

hi whois,
thanks a lottt for your kind reponses. here, i'm not just to show off..or something. I got a problem and as syanjali said everyone here in sajha who post some thread has some problem and always expect to get some solution through this internet. i also did that. actually this was my laptop's problem. and according to your words, there could be 1000000...reasons..yesss..and the reason i found was the LAN driver proplem. i've 2 lan cards and whenever i install..it autometically read the LAN which i don't need and from where internet is not working. so later i downloaded some files called "chipset" (no idea) from "hp.com" and install that again. then it started to work........thank you very much once again.

==================

spoiled,
QUOTED"you dont have the modem or ethernet driver installed try looking for it"

YES!! this was the problem. thanks spoiled.

================
NayaSadak,
QUOTED "re-installing xp"
I gave a thought on it. However, I found the solution. Thanks for your post.

==============
syanjali,
QUOTED "IP address is recognized automatically after downloading the network driver??
It was recognized but as I said....that the LAN driver was not being read by the computer.

QUOTED"So, there must be a solution, unless computer itself has problem"
Yes, there MUST be a solution. And there was a solution. Computer was ok. thanks for your answers.
=============
suike,

QUOTED "Dude daum,
u still got that problem or u fixed it?
write back if you still need help.

short answer - u don't really need to configure your network settings while installing windows, just skip those options and change network settings once u are done with installation.

I had never heard about this "essential" version of XP though. Whered u get it?"

Hey dude,
I fixed the problem. I've already mentioned the how i solve the problem. I also never heard of this essential but found it through my friend. The style is of VISTA. but the screens do not move like in vista (above's youtube vids by whois)...just the icons and functions...all are same as of vista...just few features missing....It's a kind of clone of VISTA and XP. FYI, This ver. came on April 2007.

=======================

THANK YOU ALL Sajha Computer Gurus.
