Speaking at a programme in Lalitpur on Saturday, Prachanda said his party has
vowed to make him the first president of republican Nepal.
He clarified that he was not in a position to reject the proposal made by two
senior party leaders – Dr Baburam Bhattarai and Mohan Baidya – at the recent
meeting of the central committee, projecting him as the “first president”.
Prachanda said that the first development agreement during his presidency
would be with Norway.
The Maoist strongman further said he would root out feudal culture and feudal
property relations and turn Nepal as one of the richest countries in the world
within two decades by utilising the vast natural resources available here.
While the Maoist party has not clearly told the voters as to what model of
governance it is going for, it has fervidly floated its election slogan: “Let’s
Make Prachanda the First President of Republican Nepal”.
Prachanda will contest the CA election from Rolpa and Kathmandu.

CPN-Maoist Chairman Prachanda Saturday claimed that the CPN-Maoist is the most democratic party.
Prachanda
added that none within the party were dissatisfied when he presented
himself as the country’s next president since the party exercises
‘superior practice’ of both democracy and communism.
He further
said that he is being projected as the future president not because of
any personal aspiration but due to the proposals of Maoist
second-in-command Dr Baburam Bhattarai and central committee leader
Mohan Baidya ‘Kiran’.
Speaking at an interaction programme
organised in Lalitpur today, the Maoist Supremo also claimed that the
Maoist is the largest political party in the country.
Admitting
there are problems in Terai, he added that the April 10 Constituent
Assembly elections can be held if the seven parties move ahead with
strong determination.
Prachanda also urged not to judge the
Maoists on basis of one or two incidents and added that his party has
changed up to 99 percent after the 23-point agreement.
The
Maoist Supremo claimed that the CA would pave way for political
revolution, and after that he would lead the economic revolution in the
country.
Nearly six dozen students put forth their questions to
the Maoist Chairman during the programme organised by political science
students.
