Did you miss the seminar on 1040 NR for international students? Download 1040 NR from IRS.Gov site as well instruction. You can itemise your deductions. Which are Mandetroy school fees, lab fees, books and stationery etc.

Friends,

If you are in F1/J1 status and have no earned income then you must file form 8843 only, If you have earned income then you should file form 1040NR or 1040NR-EZ with the form 8843.

here's the UT Austin Link that will answers most of our questions.

Good luck.

Which form should be filed for international student?

Form 8843 - Must be filed by ALL international students present in United States to exclude the days of presence from the Substantial Presence Test.

Form 1040NR-EZ - Must be filed by all international students who have received any type of U.S income other than interest received from U.S. banks and credit unions.

Social Security and Medicare Taxes - International students nonresident for tax purposes are NOT subject to Social Security and Medicare taxes. If your employer has withheld Social Security and Medicare tax in error, you can apply to get a refund for the taxes withheld in error by filing Form 843 and Form 8316.

NOTE - The IRS does not allow electronic filing (efile) for nonresident aliens, so all international students will need to send in your tax return by mail.

if you want to pay your hard earned bucks to get help on tax filing

otherwise you can download all these forms for free of cost at www.irs.gov and file it yourself
