 Guys,Recently i got this mail.Go through once.

Hello

Namaste, and greetings from the Rubin Museum of (Himalayan) Art!

Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Adam Swart and I have been working here at the museum for more than two years now. From 2001-2004, however, I was a Peace Corps volunteer living and teaching in Chirtungdhara, Palpa. While we have never met, I am very familiar with you as Rajan Pradhan is a good friend of mine and has mentioned you to me a number of times. In addition, I served in Peace Corps with Rajeev Goyal, another one of my good friends who has spoken quite a bit about you.

I am extremely excited to say that the RMA recently opened our first-ever exhibition devoted solely to the art of Nepal! The title of the exhibition is From the Land of the Gods: Art of the Kathmandu Valley. In conjunction with this exhibit, I am planning a program for the Nepali youth of the greater NYC area. The program is scheduled to take place one Saturday per month over the course of the 7-month duration of the exhibit. It is my goal to bring in a different group each month. For example, one month I will partner with the Gurung community and will host the program for the children of that community; another month, the Magar community or Kirat community; another month the children of ANFS members, etc. While it was never my intention to work with these communities in segregation, based on the local Nepali community organizations and their structures, this will be the easiest way to organize the communities and the logistics of the program.

The program for the Nepali youth communities will be held from 11am-12:30pm on the selected Saturdays during the exhibition. Following an interactive, bilingual tour in English and Nepali that will last roughly 45 minutes to one hour, we will engage the children in an art-making activity of about 30-45 minutes. We are hoping from each community organization on their scheduled Saturday for 10-15 children participants (mostly between the ages of 6-12) and some accompanying adult chaperones/parents/guardians.

Please note that I have been able to have all admission fees waived for the participants and their families.

This is a really exciting program that will educate and enrich the participants, particularly young Nepali-Americans who may not feel a strong connection to their motherland. Here are the dates still available for participation. Please let me know which date works best for the Nepali families of NJ.

July: 19th, 26th
August: 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd

Tapaaiko Palpali saathi,

Adam (Bishwas Bahadur Thapa Jhendi Magar)
