I know flying from the US to Delhi, India and then driving up to Kathmandu is cheaper than flying all the way to Kathmandu. However, I've heard that the Indian police at the border tend to give a hard time to people entering Nepal, especially the Nepalese.
Can anyone of you share any experiences you or someone you know might have gone through?

Do you think it's a good idea to fly to Delhi and then drive to Kathmandu?

Outlandish bro,

I do not think it's worth to drive to Kathmandu from Delhi just to save some money??? How much do you think you'll save doing that plus the trouble of the long drive, luggages, many possible hassels at the airport (if you check out the luggages in Delhi, the Indian Customes might give you trouble), hassels at border points like you said. do you really think it is worth just to save $200-$300????

If you really want to save money, have someone get you a ticket from Kathmandu for the DEL-KTM route and then fly on that. It's usually quite cheaper to get DEL-KTM ticket from Kathmandu than from here. But, on the contrary, if you get the entire route's ticket from here, you don't have to worry abt anything--just enjoy your flight.

Good Luck

Hey,

It will be convinient if baggage can be checked out to final destination as Kathmandu. Otherwise,

custom/police folks in Delhi may give some trouble. That's what I heard from my friends and relatives...

Anyone planning on travelling via delhi - here is my experience

Unless you have a legitimate reason to be in Delhi, don't.

I took a flight arriving in Delhi at 10pm. Flight to Ktm was next day at 12 noon. Nothing to do - nowhere to go and swarms of street robbers everywhere. Once you drive (or get driven) out of the airport it is pretty much desert until you get inside the city area.

You are better off paying that extra bit and flying straight into Nepal. At least you will be in the air-con inside Bkk or HKK or some gulf country airports.

_x
