Hi,

I had read many discussion threads regarding STEM. But, Still none of the thread really says clearly about STEM and MBA.

So, Does STEM embade a student with MBA in Accounting or Finance right now?? If not right now, do you think there will be some amendment  in rule sooner ?

Thanks so much for your reply !

Sampada,I am not sure if MBA falls under the STEM program, but here's what I know. After graduationif you apply for and get a job at non-profit hospitals/instutions/associations you willnot be under the H1B quota system. The non-profit employer can process your paperwork atany time of the year and you can beging using it as soon as it is approved. Do a little research; non-profit organisations, hospitals, instutions also require Accountingpeople to handle their business. So, I would say just go for it. It might be a little hardto only look for and get into such places, it is surely worth a try.You seem to be a little quite worried about your career after graduation, which is a goodthing and reminds me of my situation while at college, which was pretty much similar. Therefore, I just thought ot pouring some of my thoughts.Good Luck!

Thanks so much Happyface,

I didn't knew about that, non-profit organization thing. I am not even sure whether I may or may not have to use this OPT option, but was trying to get prepared if I needed to.

But, I find it's kind of funny if economics, stat is included but not the finance or accounting. Because, it's all about the math and math ! but may be  the U.S. has enough of such man power

Anyways, it's because people like you  and your valuable insights that always encourages me to keep on watching Sajha posts !

Thanks once again,

Sampda

I just wanted to contribute about the huge misunderstanding we have about the non-profit organization and cap exempt H1-B. If it is university or a hospital, you are all set. If it is other type of non-profit organization or institution, then the organization MUST be the one which is involved in primary research. For example, getting a job at a NGO that is entirely devoted to grassroots public service or advocacy for some public interest campaigns without conducting any primary research would not be cap exempt even if the organization is non-profit.
