Is a london transit visa required for a person in B2 visitor visa and going back to Nepal after more than 6 months stay (extension applied).

UK consulate in USA website says no transit visa required if one has valid visa and valid ticket. UK govt web site says no transit visa is required if one has valid tkt, valid visa and transit date is not more than six months since last entered in US.

Want to know, if any one has any experience on it.

For Nepali people , you will need a transit visa if you dont have a green card, even if you are staying at the airport.

Why in the world would anyone want to remain within the confines of Heathrow (or any UK) airport? Get a decent visa and get out... Inside airport is simply overpriced, which may be true in most airports, but it hurts your wallet more when you are paying £££s, not $$$s.

lanthus and Sa54, thanks for your input. In which status did you travel? Can you pls let me know? I am looking for case with B2 visitor visa with a 5 yrs Multiple entry but leaving after over 6 months of stay w/ extension applied. I am more concerned bcz my parents can not read and write english. They can not communicate if they do get any problem. Axara thanks for increasing the numbers in posting but I did not get your point here.

I also welcome feedback from people who have experience in the situation I am looking for.

aabha_in_us:

regardig your secondary concern (I am more concerned bcz my parents can not read and write english. They can not communicate if they do get any problem.)  as long as they can manage a bit of Hindi they should be fine because in my experience, which is at least 3 times a week (dont ask my what I do, But I don't wear a name tag on my shirt), Hindi (including Punjabi and Gujrati) is Heathrow's second business language after English.

Hope this helps.

_x

I have seen that the issue related with this is not clearly mentioned in UK consulate in USA and UK govt website. UK Govt website says transit should be within six months of entry to US. But I have heard of people going after over six months stay. If you need a visa, then the airlines staff at Airport (in US) will not allow you board the plane.
