What's wrong with these staffs in our embassy in DC. If you call them for any information most of the time that particular person you want to talk to is not available or they will tell you to call next day or after an hour. They are not at all different than their counterpart in Nepal. Can't they have some influence of this Country after being here for so long. You can atleast expect them to be little better in customer service area. But hell noooo..I think they are even worse. I believe this guy called Dick Tamang is clerk of somekind and I know he has been there for atleast 10 years or so. I had to talk to him because I lost my Passport here. The guy is so rude just like his name. Maybe I catch him on the wrong time or could be the guy is not happy because maoist won the election. Boy! I feel like bashing him right on the phone. He was telling me that it's almost a impossible task and they have no system of tracking that my passport was renewed from there. As I kept on tallking to him he said Namaste and hang up on me.I know there's nowhere I could complain or anything, does any sajha's visitor have any such experience or somekind of advise for me?

Yup thats how it is... I've had a bad experience myself. I was being asked to get out of the embassy and return after lunch as I was entering the main door and it was around 11:45am. I can understand that they need to eat lunch, but there is a way you show some respect to other people.

If you are absolutely not satisfied with the service you got (or lack there of) from Nepal Embassy, send a letter saying so to the Foreign Ministry and as many newspapers as you can.  Dignified service is your right, not privilege.  You have the right as a Nepali citizen to be treated fairly, competently, expeditiously and with utmost dignity from the staff of your embassy.  After all, those people in the embassy work for you.  Their very existence is to provide service, among other things, to you, Nepalis in America.  Don't let yourself be cheated out of what is rightfully yours.  Even more, don't let them continue to cheat others with impunity.

And name names.  Make them accountable.  Do not generalize and say that the staff at Nepalis Embassy are jhoor.  Say who is jhoor, when was he jhoor and why was he jhoor.  State your issue credibly, i.e. do not embark on name calling and being unprofessional in your accusation.  Be very matter-of-fact, without being overly emotional.  For example, the clerk you mentioned is not Dick Tamang.  His name is Dig Bahadur Tamang.  If you feel that he did not provide you good service, as he should becuase his salary comes from Nepali people's taxes, then tell the ministry and the media about him.  But do so in a professional manner.

My dui paisa.

I've had only good service from the embassy.  They have few staff and serve a growing number of Nepalis and non-Nepalis.  All-in-all, they do a good job in my eyes.

Maybe Nepali associations in the States and Nepal authorities can work together to strengthen the embassy.

It happened to me too. Most of the time they are on lunch. I don't even remember their lunch hour. It may be from 12 to 2 or something. When I asked them how could I get VISA in my newly accuired passport, they said it was not their concern.  I guess that was little rude.

Neplease Embassy DC service is very very bad, no body can believe their behaive. There is no waitroom and all staff ignore the nepalese people. Last year i went their for reneiwal my passport. DB taming told me now is lunch time and you can come after 1.30. But when i went their, time was 11.50. And again i went their 2.30 but they told me passport time is over.

but, he did not ask,  why you came here ?????

They are soo stupid staff and for passport reniwal time is more than a week. I gave them all papers but they sent me passport after 2 weeks.

SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSO bad service.

DIG BAHADHUR TAMANG should be fired from his position. Lets make this happen guys... lets use all and any source we can to make this happen. This guy does not deserve to be where he is. He is not even worth attending a gas station for his customer service, let alone the Embassy.

LETS KICK DIG BAHADUR TAMANG OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Guys,If you are satisfied with the service provided by the Nepalese Embassy in DC, have your regional or local Nepalese Association write a letter to the Ambassador and the ForeignMinistry in Nepal. Ofcourse, individuals can also write letters. The emplpoyees at the Embassy have been appointed by the Nepalese Government to provideNepalese Passport holders proper service; they can't be just ignorant and rude and treat us likewe are some undignified people in a foregin land.

Is it true that everything is done manually there in our embassay? Mr. Tamang, he told me that  since everything is done manually it will take him 2-3 days of work to dig through all the record to find mine because it's been already 4 yrs. since I renewed my passport. His suggestion to me was give the fake passport # and expiry date to the cops for the report. I can understand they are short staffed always and they don't have the technology to do the job quickly but this could be said in a nice way too. According to him now there's no way I could have my passport made and there's no other option for me. I hope his intention was"not unless you bribe me".

If MR Tamang is implying that he be given some "bribe", it is a proof that some peoplecan't change themselves wherever they go, IF they are in a Nepali environment. It is a shame to those ask Bribes and it is a greater shame to those who think thatdoing so is good. Just my opinion.Peace!

We all have to complain about this with Ambassador. They have to change staff every two year, after that will chage everything. Always same employee same place, that is really not good. If they chage every two year after that staff also will do good job.

Is not it ????
