Hello!

I just received the Notification Letter from the KCC stating that I have been selected for the DV-2009 lottery. My case number is in the 11K range.

Since I am currently in the US under F1 status, I am not sure if I should send the FORMS 230 and DSP 122(the forms that came along) to the Kenucy Counslar Center or just wait for my number to become current (which means I would have to wait until october), then file for an Adjustment Of Status with the department of state... I am really confused.

Any information regarding this and/or any of your experiences would be highly appreciated.

I also applied lottery of DV-2009.

I found this information another website

The State Department is scheduled to notify the winners by mail begiinning from May 2008, which is about 10 days or two weeks away from now. The DV-2009 winners should apply for either I-485 applications or immigrant visa applications beginning from October 1, 2008 and such immigrant visas or status must be granted by September 30, 2009. Please stay tuned to this website for the development of this news."

"JPT"-Jay Pahay Tehi....

It is clearly stated in DV-Lottery site that the reults for 2009 DV is not yet public. Many of the folks above are right- they are schedule to send notifications starting May 2008. Anyway, Thanks to all whoever already got notifications. I belive they have some relatives working inside the office ti notify them. By the way "Khalisisi", check the date may be it was for 2008 DV, may be you moved out and it took a year to come to right address.

All rest Peace!!!!!!!

@ STUPIDA

Sir, if you don't have nothing nice to say than don't say nothing ;0) just my two cents!

getting back to the intent of the thread, suggestions are still welcome, let me reassure you that the MAILS HAVE BEEN OUT FOR AT LEAST A WEEK now, and trust me I would not waste my time talking about it, had I not received the letter yet!

Thanks

Congrats Khalisisi!
If I were you, I would go for counsellor processing. Since your case number is in 11K range, this is considered a bit higher. It may take August or September '09 for your case to be current. USCIS does not gurantee completion of your AOS beyond September '09. The name and criminal check sometimes takes longer which may delay your AOS process. I had seen a couple of people freaking out who did AOS and their numbers were in 10K range a few years back. They barely made it. It took long to get name and criminal check clearance. If you chose U.S. Embassy in Kathmandu for your interview, you need to specify it on the form that you will be filling out. Yes, you fill out the forms now, send them to KCC office, and wait for second letter. Keep on watching visa bulletin which gives you some ideas as to when your number will be current and to prepare yourself for the interview. Good luck!

Thank you very much "kekohalla", your info was really helpful... so I should consider CP .. huh

My student visa has expired(I am on D/S) and I will definitely graduate on December 2009 ... if I choose CP should I go to kathmandu this summer or do I wait for the KCC to give me a date? any idea? this is getting trickier ... I am real confused :(

Congrats Khalisisi,

Yeah you never know how long It will take to go through 'Adjustment of Status (AOS)' as 'Kekohalla' already suggested you above.

So you had better to go for Consular processing of your case.

By the way, Nepal's quota is going to be over this year? (That's what I heard last year). Do you have any clue folks?

don't worry khalisisi regarding date of letter one of mine freind last year got letter towards end of March and that was dated mid-march, though they said they will notify from begining of May.  Now she has GC. So go ahead and follow the process they mentioned. If necessary go to immigration center office i think those office are in most of the big cities, if I'm not wrong.

Hey Khalisis,
First of all congratulations, but this might sound bitter, but you have to go through all those "jhamela" that i had gone through. Its kind a complicated process and takes a long time, more than a year to get a green card. But, eventually u will get it.
Go thorough this forum, i have a lot of postings here and so do a lot of DV winners.
Have you decided that are you gonna do AOS or CP? or just give me a call...i can probably help u out. U might need to think about a lot of stuffs before making a decision.

I shouldn't have revealed my identity, but for helping sb out, that's fine. I will change my sajha ID

Khalisisi,
You want to wait for your second letter, then go to Kathmandu if your are going through CP. When you know your interview date, it will be easier to plan when to fly. They give you ample of time (more than a month) for you to prepare for your interview and medical appointment. Stay on valid F1 status. If you cannot wait for another 5/6 years to be married (assuming you are still a bachelor) with a person with non-immigrant status or living outside of US, this will be the best time. I was suggesting the same to a couple of my relatives who also came here through DV Lottery, but they waited to be married. Man, ask them about the pain that they had to go through.
