I am in dillema. need suggestion from auto experts in sajha.

2003 Mazda protege' with 110,000 miles. good to look at with a small dent on passanger side. overall good condition.

1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse RS with 84,000 miles. few scractches and brake might need to be replace in few months but overall good condition.

both the car have clean history. the mitsubishi is selling for $ 1,000 more than the mazda. I kinda like the Eclipse design but can't make up my mind. I also heard that Mitsubishi eclipse are pretty expensive to mentain as they go bad frequently.

guys I need your suggestions. thanks.

Mitsubishi are pretty good cars compare to mazda but as u heard yea the repair cost is kind a expensive. Talking about mazda its a Toyota engine so basically you will be driving Toyota engine sitting on a mazda body. If you gonna be driving a lots of miles go for mazda because mazda protego gives a very good gas mileage and wont break down a lot( looking at statistic) . but if ur looking for something sporty offcourse Eclipse looks more sporty than protego.

Look at it this way:

You buy either of those today. + Insurance + maintenance + zazzup a bit.

3 years later, you will get tired of your car, you will want (or NEED) another car, if not a BRAND NEW one. A spacious back seat is always useful for on the road flings, if you are up for it.

At present, you already know the upcoming expenses:

Mazda    $x000.00

Mitsu $1000.00 + $x000.00 + $500.00 (this for brakes and eventually the garage guy will say you should change a few more things too, and you will be inclined to say YES. Else, what is the point of having new brakes if you don't have.....this or that...)

So, within 3 months, you are already $1500 worse off with Mitsu.

Now, $1500 comes from $2000 earned, minus taxes and total NO EXPENSE very tight savings. Very difficult to achieve. This is almost 1.5 months of savings if you are a student, working 40 hrs GS.

Hope this helps.
