So as moving on with the part that I left before….

I fall for all the crap that the consultant told me and then started preparing the documents, as I was excited to come to US as soon as possible, want to really know why people are so eager to go to this country, what is their that we don’t have in Nepal, so with my mind setup I just moved on. I consult with many of my friends who wanted to come to US and convinced them to apply for the same college that I was looking for, showing them a dream that the consultant told me about, I had a fear deep inside my heart of leaving my family, but was also willing to look the world in a different angle.

I came to know how family are important in each and every bit of your life, how they can transform your difficult decision into just a piece of cake, so with the support of my family I just build up my confident and spend most of my day preparing documents. Finally, with all those things on my mind, I completed my undergrads.

With all those excitement going on one side, I was also involved in preparing the documents so that I don’t leave any loopholes for them to reject my visa. During the preparation, their where many hurdles that I was suffering from each and every day, but as there is a famous proverb “If there is a will there is a way”, just with the optimistic attitude on my mind I just moved on. So I and two friends of mine where applying on the same college, which builds up a confident on all of us as we won’t be alone 8000 miles far from, home.

When I look back to remember all those memories, I don’t remember much but I remember a time when I was just hanging around with my friends in a usual café, and suddenly he said “Amit you cannot get a Visa as the way you speak English is not good”, I remember every single line he told me about it as he was one of my good friend and it really hurt me deep inside my heart, it was like somebody just stabbed me with a knife. Their was a silence on the table, as I was about to reply one of my friend told him that just “Speaking English is one factor to clear the interview but it also depends on the documents that you have prepared, it doesn’t mean that just by speaking English in a fluent manner will dig a visa for you”. My facial expression explained everything, from that day itself I just to myself “Amit you must get a visa before him, and show that son of a bitch that he is not the one to decide”. We know that time doesn’t stop for anyone, as the day went by, closer was my interview date. As closer the interview date, I started getting uneasy but had a strong clout to face the situation, as just thought about it, it’s just an interview, nothing to loose about it.

November 14, 2005 the day of my interview, I arrived at Yak & Yeti at around 7:30, as my interview was at 9:00. I wanted to go alone, but you know how mother are, they want to be with you on each and every successful journey of your life. So I entered the room, mom waiting outside, I submitted my file, I was nervous seeing all the people out their. I was listening to some of the questions that the consulate were asking, as the time went by I started feeling less nervous, it just showed me that this is it. My name was called, I went to the consulate and finally the happiest moment of my life was their. I sat down waiting for the passport; I just kept on smiling, eager to tell the news to my mom, waiting downstairs for me. Finally I paid the fees, and got my passport, I looked at the passport and checked whether everything is fine or not. I went running downstairs, I screamed and said I got it, with all the emotion I was not able to show my feeling but as we say your eyes speaks everything, she broke down on tears. Seeing her I had some drop of tears on my eye, but was happy that she was for me to share my Kodak moment.
