This olympic has brought a lot of political issue. Tibetans really heated the environment. Now torch is in Mt Everest. Doesn't Mt Everest belong to Nepal?

ओलम्पिक कांहा? चिनमा?? त्यसो भए किन त ओलम्पिकको लाइट सगरमाथामा? तिम्रो देश कता? नेपाल। कता पर्छ नेपाल? एभ्रेष्ट जांहा छ नि त्यहि हो हाम्रो देश। एभ्रेष्ट जता परे पनि नाम चाही सुनेको छु। त्यती मै चित्त बुझाउनु पर्ने हुन्छ नेपाली भएर बिदेशमा चिनीन। अली समाचार पढ्नेले भन्छ राज खानदानको हत्या भएको थियो नि त्यहीं होइन? टाउको निहुराएर भन्नु पर्छ हो  त्यहीं हो। अली बाठाले त तिम्रोमा माओबादीको बहुमत आयो रे नि पनि भनिहाल्छन। संसारमै हराइसकेको कमिनियुष्ट हाम्रोमा फस्टाएको सुइकार्न करै लाग्छ। अब त एभ्रेष्ट भएको देश भन्दा नेपाल चिनको प्रान्त हो भनेर सोध्लान। अहिले सम्म धेरैले नेपाल भारतको प्रान्त हो भनेर दिक्कै पार्थे। एक जना अमेरीकी अधीकारी नेपाल तिब्बतसंग झुक्केको त खबरमा चारै तिर छाएकै हो। अब चिनमा हुन लागेको ओल्मपिकको टर्च सगरमाथैमा बालेपछी नेपाल तिब्बतमै पर्छ भनेर झुक्किन झन सजिलो हुन्छ। हुन त बु्द्दको देश,सगरमाथाको देश भन्दैमा हामीले दशकौं बितायो। देशको अर्थतन्त्र जरजर हुंदा पनि शान्त प्रिय देश भनेर आफुलाइ फुरकाउदै गरिबिमा रमिरहेऔं। बेला बेलमा बुद्द भारतमा जन्मेको भनेर दाबा गर्दै आए पनि अनेक प्रमाण जुटाएर अझ सम्म बुद्द नेपालमै जन्मेको भनेर संसारलाइ बुझाउन सफल भएका छौं। कतिपय भारती किताबले सगरमाथा भारतको उत्तरमा पर्छ भन्न पछि पर्दैनन। तर नेपाली किताबमा सगरमाथा नेपालमा पर्छ भनेर पढ्दै आएकोमा अल्ली बुझ्ने भएपछी सगरमाथाको उत्तरी मोहोडा चिनमा पर्छ भन्दा मन खिस्रिक्क भएको थियो। अब त चिनले हाका हाकी ओल्म्पिकको निहु पारेर ओल्मपिक टर्च सगरमाथाको शिरमा बाल्दा लाजले नेपालकै शिर निहुरिएको अनुभब भएको छ। बेला बेलामा भारतको थिचो मिचो बेहोर्दै आएको नेपाल र नेपालीले यस पटक चिनबाट मिचिए। के अब कुनै समयमा नेपालमा ओल्म्पिक भए ओल्मपिक टर्च धौलागिरीमा बाल्ने त?Jay Nepal

The peak of sagarmatha is in the border of nepal and china. South face of sagarmatha is in Nepal and north face is in china. Ke ho sathi, school ma history class bunk garya jasto chha?

Axara, you are just comparing a sketch of moon and a real moon. Neither belongs to us. But yea if someone step on our flag, that will be serious issue.
But Mt Everest,it is our. Obviously we are proud of it because its our land. Now someone is celebrating in our land.

In this country,
A conversation with my friend,
me : Hey, how are you doing? So you are here finally.
my friend (mf) : Yeah....What are you doing on Buddha's B'day?
me : Oh...nothing much..
Yastai......gaff hundai jada.........
me : You know where Buddha was born? ( I had that look on my eyes.....that...of course he's going to answer the question correctly)
mf : (taking few secs.) hmmmm........it's India, isn't it?
me: (taking my few secs. now).......it's Nepal btw
mf: Oh...sorry...I was confused...
Later I found out after the conversation.....in their WORLD HISTORY BOOK (for elementary school) they read the lines :
Buddha is the Light of Asia. He was born in India.

Peak is in the border of Nepal and China. However, the peak is slightly slanted towards nepali territory thats why everest is considered to be in Nepal .

jasari Nepal maa Mt. Everest lai Sagarmatha bhaninchha tesai gari China maa chinese haru-le arkai naam diyekaa chhan uniharu ko bhashama. Ani uniharu ko text book maa Mt. Everest China ko ho bhanera padhchhan.

I guess our history book is to be revised and written as Mt Everest lies between China and Nepal instead of mentioning its only in Nepal though they have mentioned its Chinese name. Here is on thread I found in yahoo.
Open Question
Would you say that Mr. Everest is in China? Which belongs to China..?
Debate over it and also state your opinion plus sources

Tibetans called it Zhumulama. There is no Mt. Everest in Tibet, China.

Zhumulama, Mt. Everest, Mt. Qomolangma or that ever people want to call it lies partly in Tibet's boarders the other half lies within Nepal's boarders.
The part that is in Tibet is the North side so only the north side belongs to China.
Saying that Mt. Everest is in China is like saying that the Pacific ocean is in the USA

I looked it up to see if I was right. Mt. Everest is between Nepal and China.
I always thought of Mt. Everest as being in Nepal. It made sense to me because the climbing expeditions start on the Nepal side.
Then the issue arises, since Tibet is on the opposite side from Nepal, whether Mt. Everest is between Nepal and China, or between Nepal and Tibet. I'm not going there.
If the point of your question is whether Tibet is an independent nation or a part of China, it's a prety roundabout way of asking.
Doubtless people have climbed it from the China side as well.

Asking the question 3 times in 3 different groups is silly.
Mt. Everset is under both Chinese and Nepalese jurisdiction. China controls the North Slope and Nepal controls the South Slope.
Dan mentioned that expedition always starts on the Nepal side, that is not true. Most Westerner choose the Southern slopes on the Nepal side because it is "easier" due to warmer slopes and easier trek.
