I am surprised to see the news below. What about you friends? I believe the international community and all Nepalese were 100% sure that Maoists were recognized by US as terrorist organization. Recently there were rumors that US is planning remove the terrorist tag. Later the news came out saying US have not changed its stance on Maoists. Some sajhians were glad to hear that. The latest news totally shocked me due to fact that we were fooled by the whom? Fellas express your views. US says Maoists never on terrorist watch-list

KATHMANDU,
May 15 - With the former rebels CPN-Maoist poised to head the new
government, the US has declared that the party was never included in
its “foreign terrorist organisation†and its relations with Nepal will
depend on the actions of the individuals included in the new government. The
US has hinted a rethink of its Nepal policy following the victory of
the former guerillas, CPN-Maoist, in the historical Constituent
Assembly (CA) elections held here last month. The
former rebels Maoist have, however, been included on the ‘terrorist
exclusion list’ that applies to consular issues, visas and other kinds
of matter, State Department Spokesperson Tom Casey told reporters in
Washington yesterday, making an elusive distinction between the two
categories for the first time. Although the US accepted the CA
polls verdict, Casey indicated that the US government still needs to
have a clear stance on whether to change the Maoist’s status on the
‘terrorist exclusion list’. Regarding the meeting held between
the US Ambassador to Nepal Nancy J Powell and Maoist Chairman Prachanda
on May 1, the US senior government official said that the meeting was
principally to get assurances that the US humanitarian programmes will
not be interfered with. The CPN-Maoist had formally laid down weapons in 2006 and joined the interim coalition government last year.

Even Maoists were confident that they were enlisted as Terrorist Organization by the US and recently the first ever meeting of US Ambassador Nancy Powell with Prachanda made similar remarks about removing them from the terrorist list or so. What could be the truth? Is US pissed off due to Maoists win or they were never put in terrorist list before? Or US was spreading rumors following India's move to treat Maoists as terrorist organization long time ago?

Yes, I agree. US was playing around the words. The phrases "Watch list" and "Exclusion list" do have significant difference in meaning and have to dealt with accordingly. But Maoists in "exclusion list" was never told to us or we never saw in any media.

अमेरिकाले प्रतिपादन गरेको आतंककारी वर्णाश्रमको बारेमा विस्तृत चर्चा मिडियामा हुने नगरे पनि के कुरा सबैलाई थाहा थियो भने माओवादीलाई अमेरिकाले दोश्रो दर्जाको आतंककारी जात तोकेको छ । अमेरिकी राजदूतहरुले नै यसको बारेमा बताउने गर्दथे । पूर्व राजदूत माईकल मालिनोव्सकीको मुखबाट सुन्ने अवसर यो पंक्तिकार स्वयंले पाएको थियो । साझामा यसको चर्चा थुप्रैपल्ट भएको छ ।
नेपाली मिडियामा यो वर्णाश्रमको बारेमा चर्चा नहुनु पनि खासै आश्चर्यजनक कुरा हैन । कुन दर्जाको आतंककारी भन्ने कुराको के नै महत्व थियो र, माओवादी सत्तामा नआउन्जेलको लागि ? फेरि शेरबहादुर देउबाको सरकारले त माओवादीलाई पूर्ण आतंककारी घोषणा गरेकै थियो । त्यो भए पछि अर्थोक बहस किन आवश्यक थियो र ?
अब आएको twist को कारण चाही उल्टो छ । अमेरिका माओवादीलाई “आतंककारी”को लिस्टोबाट हटाउन भन्दा आफै माओवादीको “साम्राज्यवादी” लिस्टोबाट हट्न हतारिदै छ । अमेरिका आफ्नो शक्तिशाली rival चीनको छेवैमा एउटा unfriendly state भएको हेर्न चाहदैन । कुरो ह्याँ छ ।

Probably US government and Prachanda cut some deal there. Have been hearing news about Maoist pleasing US government. Its the nature of the game i guess.

नेपेदाजि, अब चै खास्सा नेताले गर्ने जस्तै कुरा गर्नु भो है । नेपाल जस्तो देशका नेताहरुले अमेरीकालाइ "साम्राज्यबादी" भन्देर क्या आपत्त, भरे माओबादी शासन आएपछि अमेरीकिलाइ नेपालको भिसा नदेला भन्ने पीर पनि पर्यो कि ? के थाहा ?

माओवादीप्रतिको अमेरीकी अडानमा यदि भ्रम नै परेको थियो भने त्यसको एउटा कारण चाही राजदूत जेम्स मोरियार्टीका गालीवादी टिकाटिप्पणी हुन् । मोरियार्टी बाजे के कारणले हो कुन्नी, अमेरीकी प्रशासनले चाहेको/खटाएको भन्दा बढाईचढाई गरेर माओवादीलाई सराप्थे । माओवादीलाई टेरोरिस्टका टेरोरिस्ट लगाउने यिनै हुन् र शायद त्यसैले यस्तो भ्रम पर्न गएको हो ।
