Whenever ppl talk about Nepali politics or Maoists they donot forget to praise Dr Baburam's academic degrees but never heard about Sher Bahadur Deuba who has degree from  LSE, one of the most reputed schools of the world.

I think LSE is as good as Harvard, Cambridge and  Oxford or even better in Social Sciences. It ranks no 1 in the world.

Amazing

Why are you trying to bring about controversial topics?

Do you have any proofs of his degree or even admission to :LSE ? Which year was he admitted in ? What was his major - Economics or Political Science? Show me his degree.

He was merely a research student  in International Relations from 1988-1989 with NO DEGREE.

http://www.lse.ac.uk/collections/pressAndInformationOffice/aboutLSE/worldLeaders.htm

even occasional admissions and summer school attendants are mentioned in that.

What I heard (no proof ) that he was able to make a library card at LSE with help of a friend.

Bakwas !!

Suppose if he was admitted in pretigious LSE, we should be ashamed that he could not cash on the oppurtunity.

If you observe the website, they do mention which degree was conferred and when to the individuals ?

Shirish, thanks for the info,
Im not trying to bring out controversial topics, they are already here (more than enough), today I came to know about him being an alumni of LSE and was pleasantly surprised. Then I also checked LSE sites and found the same info which u provided above...

But after checking your post again I googled and got this . U r 100% right.....

Sher Bahadur Deuba was never a “research fellow” at the London School of Economics (LSE). He didn’t “study” at the LSE, neither as an undergraduate nor a postgraduate. He didn’t get a degree there. Deuba seems to have registered as a student under a category called “research fee”, allowing him to use the LSE library, and have a professor assigned for general guidance, but not take classes.

Amazing

Good that you admitted this otherwise my question would have been:

"If Deuba was a research student at LSE, what was his thesis about, where his thesis is kept etc? "

One amazing thing is the ability of LSE to induct Deuba into its alumni by just issuing a library card - He he !

Education and intelligence are two different things. Intelligent people are most of the time edcated but educated people are not always intelligent.

There are some political quota in Nepali congress and other large political party. Sher Bahadur got this oppertunity from this quata, not from his brillient academic carrier. Even he didn't do anything in LSE. He was very poor, when he was in TU.

Every year political person got this oppertunity.

After visiting LSE's Alumni section  site I was confused what does ALUMNI word really stand for, When Deuba was neither student nor staff of (Only Library Card holder) then how can LSE list his name so proudly in ''WORLD LEADERS, LSE alumni and Staff''.?

It seems like LSE is more concerned about him, and they are proud that a person holding (in past) an  LSE library card could make a head of government 3 times. To reconfirm myself, I double checked the meaning of ALUMNI in dictionary  which said ''Former Students of institution''. Does one can be an alumnus/alumna without being officially registered in institution, such as independent researcher/taking summer course/ attending seminar etc? If so he surely is an alum, otherwise ........!!!

Just my two cents, do correct if Im wrong.

nabin72,

If that is the case, Deuba then totally wasted a seat at LSE and Political Science, that could have gone to some smart student and do some better thing for the country.

Amazing.

I think, LSE is LSE because they can capitalize. They can take advantage of situation. Issuing Deuba a library card and make him an alumni. Had he not become a PM, would he still be an alum of LSE ? Hell NO.
