Ramesh Nath Pandey, whose association with the Nepali Royalty dates back to the early 1960's is very surprisingly being nominated by the Revolutionary Maoists in Nepal as the member of the Constituent Assembly.
Mr. Pandey has the distinction to have served practically all the King's since 1960. More recently, he was minister in King Gyanendra's cabinet.
Mr. Pandey, who more often than not used to be nominated as the nation's foreign minister whenever Kings in Nepal seized power from the people, has been proposed by the Maoists to represent the party from among the remaining list of 26 CA members that is to be nominated by the prime minister.
It is widely believed that Mr. Pandey is equally close to the Indian establishment.
Some even say that "high flying" Indian authorities as and when they land in a secret mission, they eventually stay at Mr. Pandey's private residence.
Another staunch royalist, Surya Bahadur Sen Oli has already been selected as the member of the CA by the Maoists party.
Mr. Oli in the past used to be a trusted and tested "man" of the Nepali royalties.
As per the report, Mr. Pandey and Oli are considered to be very close to Dr. Babu Ram Bhattarai.
Maoist leader, Dr. Bhattarai opines that Mr. Pandey is a "reservoir" of "information" and thus the party's penchant for this staunch royalist.
Surprising phenomenon galore in Nepal…Hmm….
