Has anybody changed employer right after getting GC ? How long did you stay with the employer (who sponsored your GC) before you made switch ? I appreciate if you could share that.

Once you get your GC (I mean the physical card in your hand), then screw your employer and do whatever you want.  Nothing can stop you from taking another job anywhere else OR if you prefer to be lazy, you could just chillax at home collecting welfare albeit it may hamper your chance of receiving a citizenship later on.

Firstly Congratulations for getting GC!!

There is no reason to hang on with the employer after getting GC. Uddta panchi ho GC paye pachi, you are free to do what ever you like, not crime hai feri haha.

My experience: I already had GC but I joined employer/consultancy and also signed 1 year contract to tie up with them. I took training with them and they provided me accomodation also. After training was complete I ran away and didn't work with them at all. Nothing happened at all, they didn't do anything. By now its been already over an year.

So no problem dude, if you find another better opportunity, you can leave that employer. They have already got lot more than they deserved from you. Its time to say good bye!!

I have talked to my lawyer and he was telling me to stick at least for about 6 months so that you can prove you intent to stay employed from where you filed GC. Otherwise, you might be charged as a fraud and an investigation might be initiated. I asked if this has happened in the past. He mentioned that it has not happened but the GC was granted so that you would work for the sponsor permanently and although there is no definition of  how long the permanent imply, 6 months will be sufficient enough to prove that you had intended to stay permanently.

Any other thoughts ??
