After miss nepal has been cancelled, I am not amazed to see this decision . Everybody knows most of the clubs hits its prime at about midnight.  I am sure there is more to come from this maoist led government.

When all the world are moving forward seems like we are moving backward.

Police to curtail capital's night life

Kantipur Report

KATHMANDU, Sept 7 - Bad news for weekend revelers. Late night disco-hoppers and dance bar goers in the capital better forget about night time unwinding as the authorities have issued a notice calling on disco and bar owners to close after 11pm.

Superitendent of Police Sarbendra Khanal, Chief of Metropolitan Police Range, said the move has come into effect in the Valley to prevent hooliganism and maintain law and order.

On Friday, a huge number of youths planning on staying out late were in for a surprise when restaurants and discos at the major night life hubs like Thamel and Lazimpat, which used to stay open till the wee hours, were ordered to close shop at 11pm.

With Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Bam Dev Gautam speaking about improving law and order in the country within a few days, a large number of police has been deployed during night time.

"In an attempt to thwart hooliganism and maintain law and order in public places, police have come up with strict rules for late night discos and dance restaurants," confirmed SP Khanal, adding that hundreds of police personnel have been deployed in various sections of valley in this connection.

According to him, police issued a notice to close before 11 pm some dance resturants and other establishments which create a noise in public, and strictly warned those who make a nuisance after drinking.

In this connection, police on Friday and Saturday arrested dozens on the charge of hooliganism under the public offence act. SP Khanal said the police had not imposed any new regulations, but old regulations were being strictly enforced.

Bathroomcoffee, if you don't know thousands of people works at the industry related to nightlife. How would that affect them.  There are many relatively poor people works in that industry.

Second thing is, Many people working in particualrly big companies works whole week and in  the weekend they go out and enjoy. I am sure more than 95% of peopel going out at night have no intention of fighting . They just want to have  good time. You cannot curb their right to have a good time.  What kind of Draconian rule is that you stop their right just for the shake that our police is always incapable to restrain few rowdies.

Real reason is the maoist were always against the nightlife . They used to collect taxes from the clubs before they come to government.

No Quiero,

No Stability = No Tourist.

Therefore no revenue for the very people you are talking about. There is still Travelling advisory for tourists to goto Nepal. So you tell me is it more important to stabalise the country so you can have that travel advisory lifted to entice more tourists ? Not a lot of Nepali peolpe have the money to goto night clubs. So I think it is not asking much to have these places shut down early(not completely shut down). Once the country becomes stable ago ahead and extend the hours again. Thats all.

Big companies ? ha ha ha There are not a whole lotta people who can afford to goto these places on a regualar basis. Last I checked the uneployment in Nepal was 42%. I dun know what many people you are talking abouit ? So if the country is stable ..more tourists will come to Nepal and bring that unemployment down. Which would also bring the Lawlessnes down and bring stability.

Dj Yeti,

They are not shutting them down. They are just closing early FOR NOW. Yes i was born with one leg and have used it to get this far than your MORONIC LOGIC.

LOL what lawlessness greater than the ones these YCL have comitted??? Im just so surprised that People are so welcomming this strict governmental move yet they were the ones who completely hated strict laws during the panchayat rule regarding Fashion, dresscode, do's and donts. I know panchayat was a curropt times of the government but was a very STRICT NEPALthen, no long guy hairs, no mini skirts or even pants for women, no late night for nepalese people , no casino for nepalese no models, fashion shows, no mordernization...........and  thats what  people fought to bring democracy to this country and Now after letting loose the mordern western culture to soak our youths of Nepal...they want to shut it down EARLY.???? to stop LAWLESSNESS?????hwere will all these people go NOW??? ummm.....what about the Terai problem??, YCL atrocities still haunting everyone? fights between local party cadres????death here death there, kidnapping here extortion there by parties, Curroption in the political level??? RAW inteligence, Flood problems and fear of mass lawlessness due to hunger and shelter??????   I THINK ITS A DIVERSION. I dont think young youths and drunk people having a happy wonderful time is commmiting crimes in Nepal....They are YOUNG, ENERGETIC, HOT, drunk, happy, wasted, and chose that life. not everyone goes there but there is a definate market and for normal everyday god fearing man...those places are BAD...but for some ........they are great place to relieve STRESS and enjoy.     LOL it seems that the government thinks most of the crimes happens in those areas LOL before it was Modelling, today its the night clubs, tomorrow it will be no mordern out fit mandatory daurasuruwal for men, and sari or kurta for women..in the name of local economy, then no cable, no nothing.............things decided by a traditional village woman and man ( MAOISTS)who still thinks women cant wear pants. men shouldnt grow long hair ...ANOTHER STEP TOWARDS A COMPLETE COMMIE REPUBLIC.....LOL....democratic republic was just a lie to come to power, and now they are this close to controll the Nepalese Army, once they do...GOD BLESS US

Following steps would have been more beneficial:

1. No selling of Alcohol below the age of 21.
2. No selling of alcohol after midnight
3. Restaurant should have right to not sell alcohol if they feel someone is extremely drunk.
4.ID check should be allowed before the entrance if anybody is found suspicious.
5. Legalize prostitution in certain areas because I believe those women somehow are doing business and making their living.
6.Club , Dohori, Dance and Gazal restuarant  should be allowed to close at 3 Am in the morning and not 11 PM which is ludicrous.

LOL bathrooomslurpy.......when did you start dawggy talk......?????well ..GRRRR...WOOF WOOF !!

Dechidriver brother you have hit the spot on this matter. Instead of targetting the actual crime scenes the government is after the easy targets that they can put a moral ban on. Its like putting a bandaid on a artery wound. What these people forget that thses strict laws was one of the reasons Panchayat rule failed. watch this closely because this governments days are numbered....
