I got my h1 approval through an indian consultancy. never got a job. now it is to be canceled if i dont find one by the end of this month which most likely I wont as the market is so bad.

What are my options? I have been applying rigorously to regular jobs with my regular resume but I never get any response. I dont want to just transfer it to another consultancy (although I am not even being able to find one that is willing to transfer it) as it will be the same vicious cycle. I would rather go back to grad school but I am broke. besides staying here illegaly, is there anything I can do?

please help...

If I were you I would join the school and go to DOL (Department of Labor) and file complaint about not getting paid while being employed.

Even your consultant company was not able to find you a job they are obliged to pay you your salary..

believe me, DOL will make them pay you... most of the ppl think if I am not in a project how can the consultant company pay me but that’s not the case, if consultant company didn't have job then they should not hire you and if they hire you they must pay you...

so, please go to DOL and tell them that you are not getting paid.. you will definitely get paid or else that consultant company's license will be cancelled..

depending how long you are employed with the consultant, the money get should be enough to enroll in college..

Just let u know before you go to DOL .. if you are not paid for few months ( i dont know exctly ) when you are in H1b status .. you will be illigal automatically ..

i was trying to market my heavily padded (as in all but my name is fake) resume. so i dont think DOL would be the best bet. with my luck, I might just get deported.

brother i think its better to work on cash and pay the tax to consultancy to make the pay cheque.

its hard to get H1 now.
