did he have as asthma in Nepal? if not then he is surely allergic to something that's causing asthma...have him check for food allergy and series of other allergies..believe it or not something simple such as wheat can trigger severe asthma...

there is no cure for asthma..one can only manage it....

he can also be allergic to mold, dust, cats, dogs etc...

I know a lot of ppl from Nepal who has moved to the US develop these severe allergic reactions that turns into asthma.. he should definitely have inhalers around the clock...i hope he has health insurance..

on natural remedies...ginger sometimes does the job in managing asthma.. it really sucks to be asthmatic.  for me for some reason when i am back in KTM i have no allergic reactions..

Hope your friend will find a way to manage it.

hmm... about bronchitis , I don;t know...

but about asthama , i can let you know...as Bal has mentioned, there is no permanent cure for asthma... once a person gets it, he will have it in his whole life... but it doesn't mean that it is going to affect his life a lot (to some extent it will definately)...

people get asthma mainly due to allergy...some are allergic to pet's fur..some to dust, some to pollens, some to cold weather...

people here have suffer from asthma less as compared to our region.... it is because at least you can breathe good air over here...

you need to find out the reason behind allergy... what is causing him asthma ...

also there are inhalers available ( but see doctor before he takes it as there are a variety of them even for asthma ).... the advantage of inhaler over medicine is, inhalers act fast and you get only small doses (in milligrams) of it ..but they go directly to your lungs which proves to be highly effective and works in a matter of seconds.... a person suffering from asthma is supposed to carry an inhaler always with him....

I hope this helps...
