My opt expries at jan 27 and I got an admission in phd which starts at jan 13. I am going Nepal applying new visa according to new I20 (phd) but still I can work up to jan 13 from the old I20. What would happen if I apply OPT extension before jan 13 coming back from Nepal (Can I have right not to go PhD and continue my OPT) or once I have new I20, I should go to PhD (according to immigration). As it is completely new practice OPT extension, do you have any idea? As I am applying visa for me and my wife, what would happen to my wife?

ok folks, one more question:

what if someone uses 3 months of OPT after say masters and then go back to school and get another masters.  can he/she use rest of OPT period that is 9 months or no? 

The answer is NO!!!!!!!!!!!! Post Completion OPT is once for one level! Please correct me if I am wrong.

Again No because once you are student, OPT can't be joined, I am pretty sure, I have in OPT seminar.

If you have your new I20 in your hand, your SEVIS has been updated with new student status thus cancelling your OPT. Be cautious that you might be working without valid OPT. As you are going to apply from Nepal, you need to be more serious about the complications. So ask your International advisor to make sure about your OPT status. If it is invalid, dont work under the paychecks.

Thanks, I confirmed IPO and they mentioned that you can work before your first day of school, I don't have seen my I20, hope it might have the date where my OPT I20 will be cancelled and student I20 will start, hope jan 13, the start of class.
