of 2008 Gruber Women Rights Award
Sapana Pradhan Malla is an attorney, women rights activist,
and a member of the Constituent Assembly (CA) in Nepal.
She has been involved in numerous public litigations including cases involving
legalization of abortion, criminalization of marital rape, and gender equality
in marriage and family laws. She has helped draft the Human Trafficking Act.
She fought for women's right of equality in the national army and foreign employment.
She will share her perspectives on issues related to the
rights of women, indigenous peoples and Dalits of Nepal.
