Namaste to all of you out there. Guys i need some advice from you all. My OPT will expire on March and right now i am hoping to get a project from a indian consultancy. They will file my H1B in april . I cannot extend my OPT since my degree do not fall under STEM. Do i need to go back to school right away or i can wait till the decision is made on the H1B. I know this forum have helped thousands of Nepalese , please tell me what are my options. Thank you

Hi lastbutonlyone sathi

As you have said your opt expires on march, so you need to be in search of community college to maintain your status, that is the most important thing for time being. Regarding H1B, you can file at April 1,2009 but your opt expires before that period so you must, I repeat again sathi you must join community college.

Ani regarding H1B, If you get the job you can file it with great excitement else think once. In the current situation, lot of people who got H1B in last year, 2008 still are unemployed though they have H1B visa that makes the situation even worse. But my suggestion file it since next year it will be more tough if same situation exists.

So your way can be,

  1. First get admitted to the community college
  2. File H1B in April , pashupati Nath ko Asirbad lae you will get it in April sathi

Tespachi aru way sochnu pardaina, so focus on your training and get the job. My best wishes are with u sathi.
