Indian Foreign Affairs Secretary Shiva Shankar Menon arrived here in the capital for his 24-hour visit on Tuesday.
Speaking briefly to the journalists at the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), Indian envoy Menon said he came here to inquire on Nepal's peace process and the constitution drafting process.
He also said that during his visit, he will hold discussions on India's assistance in the peace process and the constitution drafting process.
Earlier, Menon was scheduled to reach Nepal around 9 am but due to bad weather the Indian Airlines had been delayed for two hours.
In his second visit to Nepal in last four months, Menon will meet Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Nepali Congress President Girija Prasad Koirala separately to discuss the present political situation.
The visit of the Indian high-level official has been looked with significance at a time when the consensus among the parties has looked elusive.
It has been learnt that the issues regarding army integration, progress in drafting new constitution and India's support in reducing load shedding are included in his agenda.
Menon is scheduled to meet Foreign Affair Minister Upendra Yadav and other Madheshi leaders before returning tomorrow.
India has said that Menon's visit is a regular one. Satish Mehata, Indian high-level official for Nepalese and Bhutanese affairs will also attend the visit.
