Lincoln School

The British School

Kathmandu International Study Center (KISC)

Ullens School

Malpi International School

Rato Bangala School

Suvatara School

i dont care about the first 2 but i think price should equal quality and the bottom 3 arnt doing a good job.

my cousin goes to KCM and i heard they overcharge for a pretty mediocre standard of education

nowdays private schools and colleges are more focused on making money rather than providing education..i think the govt should intervene here

I went to one of these schools for 2 years and have to say that these schools really strive to produce an environment to encourage pursuing your studies. Yes their fees are outrageous compared to other schools in ktm. But think abt it this way. They try to give one the best education for tht price. If these schools weren't there people would be sending their kids to study in india.

And there the fee structures are just incomparably high.

dekchidriver has a good point. But you know "Kashai lai Ka2q|, kashai lai pakha", the whole categorization and de-classifying the children of our society, that is not a good idea. Our country should go for something like equal quality of education for all.

Charging expensive fees should not be the problem. I just hope that these colleges/schools charged much more money and admitted about 30% students from the lower economic strata and gave them financial aid/scholarships.

It is quite evident that these schools, maybe except for Linclon, are businesses.  Not a non-profit as we traditionally think of schools as.  Given that, they will charge as much as the market can bear.  I guess the standard measure would be how many applicants are there for each seat in those schools.  Being a business, each school will play by the rules of supply and demand, simple economics.

This leads to the othe point: these schools need to be treated as for-profit businesses and be taxed accordingly.

I don't usually agree with Maoists, but I find myself in the same side of fence as Baburam on this issue.

Not only these schools, but it is quite evident that almost all the private schools in Nepal are businesses.

I do not see why people are complaining about these schools. If you do not wanna go there (or send ur kids), don't. But please stop complaining. People value the same stuff in different manners. So, if you cannot afford or don't like paying high, and that thing is not harming anybody, then I do not see why it needs to be put on the spotlight.

And why are people letting Lincoln get off the hook, is it not a school in Nepal? Or is it that non-nepalis can charge whatever they want? If Lincoln can charge that much, why not any other nepali owned good schools. People, please do not underestimate your own kind.

btw, My comment has nothing to do with baburam's tax. I kinda support it. Also, i did not go to any of the schools mentioned above, but I did feel it was necessary to say sth.

Lincoln is off the hook coz the schools primary goal was not to educate local Nepali kids (although later they started admitted Nepali students but still is very rare). It was opened mainly to provide international accredited education to children of diplomatic personnel in the country. If Lincoln wasn't there no one would want to move to Nepal, thus we wouldn't have embassies and we would be isolated from the rest of the world even more!
