If you know a little bit of programming already, "programming in SAS" is easier than that for other purposes. But SAS is more than just programming, and a good statistical knowledge is rather important than just programming.

Recently, Enterprise Guide (EG) software for SAS has reduced the need of programming tremendously for general users of SAS. Most analyses these days with EG are through menus and virtually no 'writing codes' is needed.

However, SAS is so vast that the programming aspect will always remain important.

Bottomline, "just programming" should be easy.

It depends on your ability but programming in SAS is much easier than others. You can actually read the program and understand it. SQL is very important in SAS and makes your life much easier.

However, STATA is probably better for you if you hate writing too many codes and just want to go for data analysis. SAS provides more flexibility when you have tons of data but statistical analysis is almost always easier in STATA.

On another note, its probably not for you if you can't even type "opportunity" :)

Confounded_new,

I too love STATA and use it daily, but SAS-Enterprise Guide has made SAS far more interactive. Now SAS-Enterprise Guide has menus like that of STATA and afterall SAS is indeed powerful.

TaPtIpE, as you have programming experience, you'll do good in SAS programming (statistical analysis apart!!)
