Ghanta jasto banda... Vehicles vandalized, a dozen arrested

KATHMANDU, April 6: Police on Monday arrested about a dozen who were enforcing banda (general strike) in the capital, said Avenues TV.
The banda, jointly called by Matrika Yadav-led Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist), CPN (Unified) and Revolutionary Left Wing, has affected life in many parts of the countries including Pyuthan, Baglung, Gorkha and Udaypur.
The banda organizers also vandalized some vehicles at Koteshwar and Kalanki in the capital. A passenger bus (Na 3 Kha 917) was torched in Basa of Nawalparasi. Four trucks (Na 2 Kha 7638, Na 2 Kha 7639, Na 2 Kha 4221 and Na 2 Kha 4888) were set on fire in Butwal, the TV said. A government van bearing registration number Ra 1 Jha 12 also was vandalized.
The three smaller communist parties called the banda to protest what they say deviation by Unified CPN (Maoist) from communist ideology and abandoning people´s revolution.
