Its almost impossible to get job in MS Telecommunication. You can get job easily if you have Green Card.I am not frustrating you but thats the truth right now specially in this recession period. The market for communication is already saturated but don't know about the future.

I think it is better you go for electrical engineering with focus on communication rather than get a degree in telecommunication as your oppurtunities will be very limited...

I dont agree telecommunications bhanne bittikai scope limited huncha bhanera. Telecommunications bhanne bittikai telecommunications matra bujhidaina. Telecommunications itslef has different communications.

Like I did my master's in microelectronic and telecommunications. My communications subject were optical fiber, antennas, radio frequency, telecommunications, Advanced signal processing, EMC etc.  Most of these subejects didnt focussed on telecommunications.  So go by subject. Kun kun subject sikaucha tyo hera rather than just the name telecommunications because name can only be decieving.

Buddy, like someone who suggested earlier, the name telecommunications is simply deceiving. MS Telecommunications and MS Electrical Engineering are the same things..You should rather be looking for particular courses offered.

I find it little amusing you are asking it.  Telecommunications (or communications) itself is a part of an electrical engineering . I did my masters in telecommunications. Now i am doing my phd in satellite designing. It all depends on what you study in your master's , whats your masters research is and your strength in particular subject.

Another advice,

Do this--

1. Go to the website of the department where you will be studying telecommunications
2. Look for all the subject material (optical fiber, RF, Propagation, signal processing Antennas etc.)
3. Look for the research in each of the subject matter that is being done in your department (optical fiber, RF, Propagation, signal processing Antennas etc.)

If you are really serious about doing a phd than it is better to contact your perspective supervisor and let him/her know right now that  you want to pursue course from Master's to PhD. That will enhance your chance of qualification as well as scholarship.

Thanks no_quiero,
The program itself is telecommunications and networking and they have no PHD program. I am asking some questions because the electrical department does not conduct MS telecommunications in this university though they have electrical and networking courses ( my fault , I did not mention about it). Its State University of New York Institute of Technology. I wanted to know before joining there. Thanks for your info, it helped me.
