Panasonic Lumix DMC TZ5! Not a slim camera but sturdy with 10X zoom, 28mm wide lens and amazing video recording quality. It's bulkier than most other point and shoot these days, but its bulky size is easily compensated by its capabilities. You don't realize how useful 10X zoom can be until you have it!

For normal camera, which one do you recommend based on below criteria?

* cost around or less than $200

* 7-8 Megapixel 3X zoom

* less than 2" thick

I was trying for canon elph sd750 but the review for this was not so great.

Go for a camera with 12 mpx and HD capability...you wont regrate it. Kodak Easy Share is cheap and and relaible with such capability. Or else you can go with the brand names like Sony, Cannon and Nikon. I personally like the picture quality of Nikon....but if you know basic use of photoshop then which ever you chose it really doesnt matter.

Now a days point and shoot cameras are really not that expensive. I dont think that it would be wise to invest more than $200 over a such camera. Decent camera like Sony Cyber Shot or Nikon Cool Pix will do the trick if you are just looking for the casual photography. If you want a little bit fancy camera and want to impress your friends then go with Olyumpus water proof cameras.You can even shoot inside the water with such camera. If you want to shoot some decent movie clip to upload in the you tube then go for Kodak Easy Share with HD. The choice is yours. These cameras are Under 200.

Sometimes my favorite Power Shot  cameras may be your favorite too :

1.  S 110 IS CANON
*  9 MP & 10 Optical
*  3" screen (not 2.5" i.e. wide enough)
*  Silver and Black i.e mixed (Body Color)
*  Night Flash attached
*  Customer Review 4.8/5
*  2 AA batteries
*  $200/- to $210/-

2. A2000 IS CANON
* 10 MP & 6 Optical
*  3" LCD display
*  Slim and compact
*  Silver or Black color
* Night Flash attached
*  Customer Review 5/5
* 2 AA batteries
* < $200/-

 Just google the name of camera to enjoy its clear photos, you will love it and even become confused to decide which one to buy (as me), though, these cameras may not be the ideal one for the professionals.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ28

Digital camera - compact - 10.1 Megapixel - 18 x optical zoom

The Lumix DMC-FZ28 digital camera boasts a
premium 27mm wide-angle LEICA lens with an 18x optical zoom, ideal for
tight indoor shots and long-distance action photos. The 10.1 mega pixel
digital camera also features an enhanced Intelligent Auto Mode (iA),
with the AF (auto focus) Tracking function, making it easier for
photographers at any level to shoot sharp, well-focused photos, even
when the subject is moving making it ideal for action shots.

The
AF Tracking function, the component to be added to Panasonics iA
system, allows users to lock focus on a moving subject. The camera then
automatically tracks the subject as it moves, keeping it in
focus without the need to hold the shutter halfway down. AF Tracking
makes it easier to capture moving subjects and spur-of-the-moment
action shots. The AF Tracking technology also improves face detection,
by providing continuous adjustment of the focus and exposure, even if
the face is turned away from the camera

Bulkier.. but the best one...
