Toilet paper v. Water

the argument is on which one is 'hygienic'.

After defining 'hygienic', both of the procedures are non-hygienic. However, toilet paper can be more  reliable procedure for safer side, if we are really considering  how to maintain our good sanitation behavior.

Water is a good source for cleaning, but, in this particular case, there are ten obstacles known as fingers and it contains nails.

This is really health concerned topic. So, I would like to share the info I read in WHO protocal on how to clean your ... using standard precaution.

1. Wear Gloves.

2. Wipe with soft toilet paper 5 times/ more than 5 times.

3. Wash with soap and water throughly from back to front or front to back. If you are a gal, front to back is better.

4. Dry the surface using hair dryer or a fan.

5. Then use a scrub brush vigourously till the skin starts to burn.

6. Apply dettol on those scrubed surface.

In this way, you can clean your shit in the most hygienic and sterile way.

All the best !

i used to use stone when i was a kid and used to go to bari for toilet....then wash my hand with mud...here i use ultrasoft toilet paper.

i think toilet paper will be more hygenic than water since when u use toilet paper you will not have direct contact with sh#t.

it depends weather one has a habbit of showering daily or not!!! if you shower daily, using paper would be good enough. some ppl take shower twice in a week, for them, combination of both or some moist paper...i guess.

good thread, this is what i have tried so far.

1. while squatting on the toilet:
defilitely squezzes my insides, very good for constipation. must use toilet paper, or portable shower.

2. shit and shower combo.
take the dump, wipe with toilet paper once or twice, jump into warm shower.
workaround if you ass hurts from too much scrubbing or following WHO protocol.

3. Lysol wipes:
very efective in public restrooms esp if you live in a drom with public restrooms. comes in different size container (also useful to wipe the toilet seat, humm..........lets have a new thread on that next week "do you put toilet paper on the toilet seat before using it?")

4. bundle of moist toilet paper
alternative to 3, easily accessible in home setting but not in public setting.
more effective if used in combination with dry toilet paper, alternating between the two.
5. WHO protocol
havent tried it yet.

.... happy S#itting!

Why don't u guys use following type of toilet seat. It uses water to clean, and air to dry later on, no need to use toilet paper.

you can use bidet sprayer; it's strong spray, attaches to comod. some of them have retractable nossel so it's more hygienic. No need to use your hand. Some of the Japanese toilets have these built in.

I heard the utilization of human waste into energy source. CNN has aired the “Open Toilet  in India". It will keep the environment clean as well drop the water borne diseases.
Kathmandu also needs this kind of project forget about how you clean, just follow the rules “Act like a Roman when you are in Roman, use the resources available in your way.”

Would you wipe your hand with paper if it had smudges of your poop in it?

I think the above question should answer this question. To me, TP is a temporary solution and I clean it up well when I am in the shower.
