Friends,

I am currently in california. I am planning to go to Nepal with my new born.

However, it takes more than 3 months in california to get his birth certificate. Is there a way to get the birth certificate and then passport sooner? Can we get ticket without passport?

Pls help.

3 months to get birth certificate?  Wow, that IS long.  Probably because California is bankrupt and cannot pay their people to do their job.

Passport process takes about 2 to 3 weeks.

You could technically add your baby's name to your passport and travel with that.  But I am not sure how viable an option that is.  You will have to contact Nepali embassy.

Best to wait for the birth certificate to come through, then apply for your baby's passport.  Don't forget to apply for his/her social security number as well.

Good luck.

You have hospital certificate, that can be used as birth certificate. Talk to Nepal Embassy, DC or NY regarding getting your child in your or your spouse's passport, will help to travel. Have a nice trip.
