Now
before jumping on to the bandwagon I would like to let you know this
thread has nothing to do with king. I am only sheding Janandolan 2 (J2)
in Negative light .

Often
Janandolan II has been presented as a momentous episode of Nepal.  Now
it is increasingly becoming evident that janandolan 2 was not a
glorious episode of Nepal rather a  black episode which has put Nepal
into long term chaos.

Janandolan 2 started with a
protest. Soon all of Kathmandu grip into a kind of frenzy.  Myriad of
people came to street protesting.  What followed is history. But what
Is supposed to be a momentous occasion of Nepal infact now is turning
out to be a black spot in Nepalese  history . It is now time to analyze
whether Janandolan 2 was a success or a failure.

Put your hand in your chest and ask yourself if it is a peaceful protest

1. Culture of Protest-
For start Janandolan 2 was not peaceful protest as often has been
portrayed. People are seen hurling stones, burning cars, vehicles,
destroying public properties etc.  But it started a very dangerous
precedence.  It also started culture of protest, culture of destroying
public properties. Infact Nepal has never come out of this culture of
protest after janandolan 2.  Literally everybody was seen protesting.
Doctors, Teachers, students, lawyers, you name it and they were in
street.  2-3 years after Janandolan 2,   these Doctors, Teachers,
Students, Lawyers are still protesting all with a different agenda.

Doctors,
Lawyers, Engineers, students, teachers, journalist.all were protesting
then. 2-3 years on they are still protesting in some way or the other

2. Formation of new protesting group-
Several new protesting group have come out. People know a violent
protest may yield even strongest of Nepalse governement .  Protest in
the matter as grave as division of Nepal , separate state and even
separate country is a common place. Commoners are often troubled by
regular strikes and bandas for a demand which can never be fulfilled.

3. Culture of Impuntiy

To
a certain degree culture of impunity has also been set by Janandolan 2.
People who break public properties , burn vehicles often go unpunished
in Nepal. During J2 these people were often potrayed as heros . One who
burn tyres, burn vehicles defying police were considered brave and
freedom fighters.  These acts  have really swollen after Janandolan 2.
Directly or indirectly J2 has been cause of liberty these protestor
has got.

4.   Culture of fulfilling demand by coercion :

With so much protest going on in Nepal government have no time to look
at the demand of peaceful protestor. If you use Coercion, force,
destroy public property your voice will be heard.

A madhise protestor on top of Bhanubhakta acharya with RAmayan. People
care less about country. People dont even know which is statue of king
and which is bhanubhakta.

5. Lack of respect towards public property

If
something happens in your college, burn public property.  If you want
to fulfil some demand break the window of the car carrying small
children. Pathetic it may sound but the ghost of J2 is haunting us deep
down.

Lack of emotion and lack of respect towards public property

Now
it is time to seriously think whether J2 was a success or an utter
failure. For me if you ask I would say it was a momentary Success but
it has lead Nepal to ultimate and long term doom.

a tiny peice of history - Nepal opened it door to the outside world during 1950's and we were still living in the Himalayan cradle - content and happy with little to worry about the rest of the world.

and frankly, emmigration gathered momentum during 1990's.

Janaandolan I-or II, have not yielded anything but chaos, corruption and lawlessness. Panchayet era despite of limited rights, was far more democratic by any norms. Again, 12 points agreement was the biggest mistake committed by  Nepalese politician, followed by so called janaandholan-II, thereafter, they legitmized the en masse immigrants from south by new Citizenship Bill. Whine NRN will remain deprived from excercising thier birthrights, people from India/Bihar like baban singh making mockery of Nealese Citizenship. Again, education is the key-as always ignoramous so called ill educated people of nepal are responsible for this day. I blame them the first, and perhaps they deserve to live as a second class citizen in their own country.

While analyzing the political history, only Monarchy has been the sole patriotic force-and contributed to the development of nepal. those neo-republican-" imported loktantrabadi" will not agree for sake of not agreeing-which I do not care. Evaluate history from objective point of view.

20 yrs ago Nepalis used to go bidesh for training or scholorsphips and come back home. now we're forced to immigrte. Most countries don't even want us to be in their airport transits. some of those countries used to give 2 -3 months visas at the airport. People are selling and spending their life saving to send their loved ones out of the country. what good of a democracy it is where people do not have protection of their lives and properties. I see some of you bragging about freedom of speech in here, don't you remember what happened to himalayan times? can you say any bad words against prachanda or girija and not get beaten up in Nepal now a days? can you write against these bastards freely? no.. so there is no freedom of speech.. yes you may surf the internet but thats internet, Nepali politicans didn't build that. if they had it their way they would stop it.

these leaders have done nothing besides robbing the country and sending their kids overseas  so that they can take the corrupted money out of the Nepal and one day flee too. these are criminals and they have so easily brainwashed Nepali public to believe they are the best. It's sad that Nepali kids are burning their own house and stealing from their own savings to help these criminals just cuz they promise job, favoritism in the name of party of some kind of immoral protection for being a party worker. one day they'll realize that they've no way to go and being an immigrant is never the same thing as of being a citizen in our own country, but until then it'll be too late and that is if these stupids will ever realize, chances are they won't.

Today is loktantra diwas. Black day in nepali history.  A day which has put nepal into  eternal chaos , conflict and lawlessness.

Nepal don't celebrate, fagun 7 , chaitra 26 anymore.  There is no holiday in pritivi jayanti.

But we celebrate loktantra diwas.     Lets celebrate our dooms day.

What a blood sucking creep are these leaders!
They are protesting in the street and yet taking monthly salaries without mere presence in the cabinet. This gives a clear picture about the horrendous mistake we have created,

Good friends and good discussion, I am here again, specially
my friend Raju,

If we don't have these emotions in this youth, it is not a youth, keep it up,
it will make you successful either here or there but don't forget to work hard
( I am not giving suggestions, you guys are far intelligent than me but I am
still youth too, just started early thirties). First of all, I was optimistic
before, I am optimistic now and will be in future too (so sal pahele hame tumse
pyar tha------). My father was professor and economist; he passed away one year
ago. I used to argue with him about Nepal. I used to say, we can be prosperous
country, we are Nepali, we are great, we have this and we have that. My father
sometimes laughs or sometimes tried to convince me. He used to say, my son,
Nepal is country where we don't have resources, very few resources were used by
the feudal and King. At the same time our illiteracy and poverty can't help up
stand well and fight for all these things. We have India in the side which is
always like a wolf, sometimes it attacks directly and sometimes it attack
indirectly. We have Karnali as well as Rapti pari, where human civilization is
just starting. So there will be vast majority of people living in poverty,
illiteracy and there will be a conflict in society for a long time.  I was
not convinced with him. I always used to say that, we need revolution, in any
type, I am youth, you are old, you can't understand my feeling. At the same
time, my father laughed at me and he mentioned that he was more revolutionary when
he was youth; the time was more difficult with Panchayati system.

Any way, why I am mentioning these entire situations above, now the time come,
as he mentioned, the society is at highest level of conflict, we have in the
age of another civil conflict but it will be different than before. It will be
different than the war done by Maoist because they just lit the fire; the fire
is still inside the society. One more thing to add here, just look my previous
thoughts in another thread. All Nepali was Pancha at Pachayat, we were UML and
congress after democracy, majority of Nepali were Maoist after Maoist Movement
and we will be in another party after the raise of the another new group by
Raju and no quiro. My point here is our society is at highest level of conflict
now, Panchayat has no waves, no development, no literacy, no thoughts, so
society was cool but the people like my father had understood that there will
more conflict in society after sometime because we are preventing these
conflicts now. So, the conflict stopped by Panchayati system and as well as
little bit baby King, Koirala Dynasty, the conflict is in road now.

Finally, Raju, don't think I am supporter of this and that, I am not supporter
of these bastard leaders or criminal king panchayat and another equally
important thing is either Raju or No quiro or me, we never supported Maoist or
voted them, but it is Nepal, it is Nepali who voted them, they are our friends,
relatives. So, Nepal is on the way, either to become Ruwanda or Burundi or in
the way to become Norway or Sweden, it will be in the hand of Nepali, leaders,
the people like you and me. How we advocate our society, definitely we are
already 200 years lacking of these types of conflict in these society. Let them
fight each other, kill each other, either they will finished like Hotel Ruwanda
or will be some prosperous society.

Although Nepal's literacy rate is about 40%, only about 10% have had made it through any form of systematic education upto highschool levels.

Hence the reality is that almost 90% of the people are not 'educated' in the sense of actually knowing or understanding the overall situation of the country. In this kind of circumstance, democracy becomes a wish fulfilling tree for the corrupt politicians to meet their own or the political groups goals. So they can get elected by public election noone can question the democratic norms. The uneducated population will vote because they are swayed by the deceiving speeches, or they are afraid of them, or they may have false hope.  But the reality is that they are practicing a democratic system and noone should questioning the results of the fair and free elections.

As they say lato deshma gado tanneri, the gado leaders are leading the general lato population and anyone who does not fit into the equation will either feel left out or will be made to fit into the equation. That is why most people in that category will leave the country not because they don't love their country because their education does not count for squat. Their education is stifled in the suffocating socio-political numbness. The result is a never ending downward spiral of more gado tanneri's creating more latos to rule over and exploit.

The handful of educated or aware citizens who choose to live in Nepal have to abide by the gado tanneris rule not because they enjoy it but because there is no other way.

So what is the solution?

As long as the country is ruled by gado tanneris, the country will head into a downward spiral.

List your solutions here.

Timer, I see no weight in your agrument.

After Janandolan our country has become SADAKCHAP  where every solution is sought in road. No care for the justice.

I am not supporter of any group, but even when there was so called JANANDOLAN , i said it was wrong.  In a long run such thing never helps. It has set wrong precedence.  By force and coercion you can get anything.  Now situation is out of hand.

How would anybody countrol so much voilent group.

Nepalese constituent assemly has 601 members.  Out of 601 , 500 of them are uneducated or i can safely say who has not even completed SLC. Each gets 50,000 Rs per month as income.  So far the total only counting income is ७२ करोड १२ लाख in last 2 years.

GrgDai is correct in the sense of country being ruled by Gado thandari. In my thinking or atleast to the level i could think, one of the solution would be to get involved slowly and participate in the activities going on in our country. That way we can get familier with the working environment there. After that if things get favourable, we can actively work towards our field of interest. What my experience says is that the educated ones that are in our county right now needs us, so that we can place those Gado Thandaris in their designated space for sure. I am an environmental engineer and i work here, but i go to Nepal once in a year (started doing so) and meet people (my professors, and lecturers) from NGOs related to environment and climate. I have just started working with them in a volunteering basis so as to get familier with working environment. My plan is to get enough knowledge and comfortability so that it would be easier to work there actively in future. If not, i will still work volunteerily during my vacation from work here so that i would be contributing to my country, doing my karma.

I would love to hear more solution steps though.

"Timer, I see no weight in your argument", No quiero, please do not think what I have said should be right. But the way you are saying proves you need more learning about Nepali, Nepali society, aspect of conflict and more knowledge about how to address conflict in society. I am not only student of Engineering but I am also  student of social science too and it is my personal interest but as I mentioned, I might be totally wrong, that is my perception.

You have definitely you have right to disagree me, the thing I am seeing and you are seeing is completely different. You can't change the situation and you can't blame other saying, you were right and other are wrong, let history evaluate which was right and wrong.

Any way, every one has right to say, Janaandolam II was blunder for you, for me, no thing to say, we will see these types of thing for a long time.

Nice discussion. I enjoyed the talks :)

I found some good arguments on your side too no_quiero but mostly you are just criticizing for the sake of criticism. Do you have any rational solution ??

If not then nothing we say here matters to people who have to live the life there. It was there choice to put Maoist in the government whether u like it or not. Democracies develop by making mistakes and learning from them.

Let us use our knowledge, return back to our motherland and try to lead by example. Let us not just talk the talk but walk the walk.

(No offense)

I do not know, but I am just amazed how people can go politically blind and become utter utopian and optimistic beyond rationality. I am amazed people could not find any arguments on no_queiro's posting. I guess you people are in state of denial and nothing else. Some still love to say " democracy" is a learning tools, you make mistake and you learn from that...my my in politics, your small mistake has larger consequences. What happened after 046 is crystal clear and what happened after you have so called " loktantra"??. Those who like to advocate in favor of these political parties please come up with strong argument. Just tell me what good these bunch of 601 contributed to the country? you still need learning period??

kanchu!, nice to see you after a long time. Regarding this thread now i am simply numb coz i don't think that i can change the view of people like Timer bro who stands on his usual belief that everything is fine or will be fine. Anyways, after a month, i will again ask him about certain things happening in the country.

I just came across the thread I wrote long time ago. What do you think of it in today's context?  Why are we still glorifying janandolan 2.

Here is what i wrote that time.

Now
it is time to seriously think whether J2 was a success or an utter
failure. For me if you ask I would say it was a momentary Success but
it has lead Nepal to ultimate and long term doom.
