A Democratic victory in 04 is dependent to a great extent on Bush screwing up in the next 2 years of his Presidency. A lot depends on how the economic recovery plays out between the Congressional elections in Novemeber 02 and the Presidential ones in 04. Bush risks loosing his presidency if he goes into the 04 elections with a weak economy - war or no war with Iraq. However, if the economy recovers and people feel good about their financial future, the Democrats will have to find other issues to unseat Bush. That might be more difficult to do.

Bush and his people are more shrewed than what average people think.

This administration will talk 'WAR' next one year for gaining popularity and about second half of next year, the economy will start rebounding automatically due to it's normal cycle the administration will start talking about 'their' policy is making a difference and which will carrty through the election year and most probably they will again, unless as Orion said Democratic party brings a strong candidate with strong issues.

If Bush prevails then that will be really bad for not only US but whole World in many fronts (Human Rights, Environment, UN etc).
