I just saw this on the BBC.

Cremations go Electronic in Nepal

This is an interesting article regarding this topic. I have always wondered about this. Cremations in the United States are mostly done in these electric "ovens". Not sure how I feel about this. What do you guys think?

(P.S. I love how stories like these are never seemed to be featured on Nepalnews.com)

THATS great,

ALthough it looks real odd to cremate in such furnace but we will be used to it and it will be sustainable and less polluting. Alas we got this thing.

DHILAI BHAYE PANI RAMRAI BHO

I am thinking what will those guys who used to burn the pyre do when the furnace does everything,,,.... Hope they dont break the furnace like SAJHA bus.......

LETS be optimistic

absolutely wonderful. "A delay is better than disaster" but we nepalese have habit of accepting error than a delay thats why we are there where we were not supposed to be..

It is really a nice thing to hear about. But I think cremation should be done according to our Hinduism. Cremation by electric means does not give shanti to the mareko aatma. That is against our belief. hahahaha....

phatteko kattu, you are an ignorant. you dont even know nepal is a secular country and there are people with other religions too. what an utterly disgusting comment coming directly from brahminist (I call it "3 dharkeism" because most of the hindu priests apply three vertical lines of red and white powder (tika) on their fore head.

The broad minded see the truth in different religions, the narrow minded like phatteko kattu see only the differences. people like him should not have place in our harmonious and civilized-to-be society.

@phatekokattu I really respect your view and still support the traditional cremation.

@georgian_satellite Please keep your hate-monger mentality within yourself. phatekokattu hasn't said anything that should be offensive to anyone. He just said being hindu, we should respect the tradition. If you are not hindu, then fine. You can have yourself (or any of your family members) cremated the way you want. Nepal is a secular country doesn't mean everyone in Nepal (or for that matter any secular country) are atheist. We are free to practice any religion we want and you can choose to practice a religion or not. Don't forget that majority of Nepalese people are still Hindu.
Now, in case of being a brahmin, you could not have made any more asinine and disgusting comment than that. You also said, ""A delay is better than disaster" but we nepalese have habit of accepting error than a delay thats why we are there where we were not supposed to be.. " We are in situation where we are because of stupid and obtuse persons like you who can't respect others' views on a matter. You also said, "people like him should not have place in our harmonious and civilized-to-be society." Oh please!!! and you think you are civilized and harmonius. huh!!!!!!!
