" They said they would also sponser my H-1."
Getting H1 without a Job is Suicidal.
"I have an offer from a consultancy. They said they would provide free training and I go work in groups with their clients. But I will remain employee for this consultancy"
They always send offer to the recent graduates and those who r graduating very soon. Most of them always provide free training and accommodation(10 PPL living in a Company Guest house). Once they finish up the Training in Couple of Months , they will make fake resumes(Even if u don't have a single year of Experience they will make 5-7 years of Experience). If u r lucky they will find a Project for You and will take a Large Chunk of ur hard earned money from ur Payroll.. These PPL r Operating Bodyshops..I blame Consulatncies for all the mess they have created..Even the PPL with Genuine Experience and smart ppl r not getting the Jobs because of the dirt they r doing..
My piece of advice to u -Never Work for these Bloodsuckers. If u r Graduating this fall, Start posting ur resumes and apply on your own..I know it's mighty hard but u never know..
My 2 cents

I am sure this happens only in Indians' companies. Making fake resume and fraud documents are their trend. So many have been caught and so many will be soon.

Answers:
1. Yes you can leave company anytime provided you are not bound in any contracts. You can always change job while you are in good status. I did change job when I was in OPT.
2. Sponsering H1B can begin anytime. It depends on your employer (i.e. your consultancies). You have to push them to start the paper work. Once you are in H1B, you will be in comfortable position. It has nothing to do with the clients of your company.
3. It has to be fulltime to be sponsered for H1B. Once you are in H1B, it will be for three years. You can always transfer H1B to new company which is not hard because it is not in quata. Remember- you have to have new paystub if you happen to transfer H1B to any company.

can i leave consultency in the middle of my OPT if i find a full time in the middle pf working there.-U can Unless You sign a Funky Agreement that u will stay with the Consultancy for Couple of year. Take a Deeper look at the Document u r Signing.
when will my sponsership for h1 begin? as soon as i work for consultency or is it sponsered by their clients? -They can Sponsor for Fiscal year's 2010 Quota as Cap is still not reached or You can apply for Fiscal year 2011 Quota for which the Filing will begin on April 1st 2010. Since u will be Working for Consultancy as their employee, that company has to Sponsor your H1B or If the Client is willing to Sponsor u then it is great. But Remember "Once on H1B you always have to get paid the amount Equal to or greater than the Amount Mentioned in LCA.
Working for consultency, is it fulltime or only if i can find projects to work on.. is it guaranteed that I will always be working on projects? -You can Work Fulltime or Part time . There is no guarantee that You will always be working on the Project. IN H1B you cannot be benched.

How do you define part time in this case? Full time is 32 - 40 hours. I may be wrong.

A part-time job may involve working a variable number of hours each week, based upon the employer's need. In order to accommodate this business reality, the H1B can be prepared for a range of hours, such as 20-30 hours per week. With this option, H1B status is maintained by working no fewer than 20 and no more than 30 hours each week.
