Can anyone provide me some information about Student loans for international students? I just started a Masters program hoping to get atleast some form of aid to help finance it but so far no luck so loan is the only option for now. I do not want to involve any US cosigner and want to take it in my name. I am just curious if anyone else has taken loans before. Thanks

I don't' think you can get student loan without a cosigner if you are a international student. unlike credit card loan, student loan is a secured loan which means if you are unable to pay or you flee the country, they'll go after your cosigner. the loan will not go away even if you or your cosigner file for bankruptcy so you have two choices, use your credit card or find a cosigner with good credit history.

cosigner has to be US citizen or permanent resident living in US for at least 2 years. but here's one site i found where you don't need cosigner. i don't know how reliable it is but you can check it out http://www.globalslc.com/
