How's Bay Area for recent college graduates, especially for someone with a Bachelor's in Finance. Are there any Indian Consultancies available in the area? Could someone shade some lights on this please?
try sulekha.com they have all the information about the consultancies. there are lots and lots of consultancies in Silicon Valley and its really tough to choose one..
I'll give it a shot. Grad schools in Bay Area seem to be really expensive while job market seems bleak. I don't even know what to look forward to, should I move to Cali over the next few months.
ya true,,it is little bit expensive, try silicon valley university, its not very expensive as compared to other universities, ya u can give it a try..and also for me bay area will always remain the best place to live in... and as abt the job market hopefully it will get better by next year... have fun..
I've actually spent a summer there. Played soccer with Tibetan guys in Berkeley and cricket with S. Asians in Fremont area. I didn't really like it a whole lot back then because I had to bust my ass off during the summer. Now that I've graduated from college, I plan to move there and settle down with my parents.
If you have any more suggestions, please let me know.
I wish to settle in Bay Area. I was gonna move there right after graduating from college but I had some business to take care of ( along with CC bills ). Its nearly taken care of now and I'm ready for the move. Should I move to Bay Area, I'll definitely pursue my masters and look to secure a decent job too. But again, that's why I'm seeking guidance. I don't really have friends in the area ( one of the reasons why I showed reluctance to move immediately after graduation ).
College was fun. But time to settle down in life, seriously. I suppose that's the main reason.
Bay area is definitely a nice place to live. i lived there for one year and i loved it, especially the weather. but you'll definitely enjoy there more if you have friends or have social skills.
Since San Francisco is one big financial hub on west cost, you might not have hard time getting any job related to your field but i can't really tell what is the market condition there right now. but i would suggest you do master in finance rather than MBA. MBA without job experience in a related field is not a very good investment.
just an advice, i think you should be open to anywhere in US if you are career oriented person. right now, you should go anywhere job takes you. job market is pretty bleak right now.
Appreciate your comments dolphin. Yeah, I was trying really hard on getting into a MBA program but by the looks of things, MBA without any related job experience isn't that significant. So I think I'll go for Masters in Finance or Financial Management.
I didn't really get to hang out or make friends when I was there. I met a few people my age when I played soccer with Tibetans but that was about it. We went to play some snooker and thats abt it. My social life was pretty lame. Hope to change it this time around.
