Advantage is if Maoist chase us in Nepal we can hide in US Embassy.  Disadvantage is No matter what, American will always treat us  as "MARIA" OR "PEDRO".

Yea, He can be "the next president of the United States", but the probability of that happening (1 out of 300 million if all americans are alike, which they obviously are not) is more than 30 times the probability of you getting hit by lightning twice...talk about cool 'can be' thing. (source : http://www.jewishworldreview.com/0204/glad_u_asked020504.asp)

The benefit is probably you can get a middle class girl to marry you relatively easily. You can probably also get a government job relatively easily--which means 50-100 K depending on your education. But citizenship alone doesn't solve most of the problems otherwise you won't be seeing so many rednecks around with no education or homelesses in the street. It depends on your own caliber.

The loss of getting US citizenship is not obvious, if you don't care about things such as your country, patriotism, getting opportunity to meet your relatives frequently, going to pashupatinath et cetera. Over time, you might miss the safety net of the home and the clan, but these days most of the people have their relatives in the states anyway. You will also not be able to change the world, and perhaps sometimes you may feel guilty that you left a country that is impoverished and probably needs you.

I often laugh at people who become citizen of the states, and then blame Nepalese leaders for this and that. I hope you won't do it. It is like leaving your home and blaming your father for not keeping house clean and becoming prosperous. If you become US citizen, just enjoy life around you, and if you can, go home and help some cause. You owe it to the people back home, but it is upto you. You can always feel you don't owe anyone jackshit, and drink beer and enjoy your life here.

Being the president of the United State is not like playing a lottery. Nothing is impossible in this country and it has been proved recently by Barrack Obama.

Barak Obama is one president in the history of this great country who's half black. not even full black.ppl always seem to forget that. btw, after years of struggle blacks have some respect in the usa and are treated as citizens. if a curry smelling Nepali or Indians goes around telling he's an american , it just means he's a poor immigrant in the usa who fled his country for his greedy dreams and got lucky some how cross the immigration bar. if you're a naturalized citizen and if you have accent , other americans never take you as real citizen of this country. it's human nature, people don't respect who try to sneak into others house cuz they're too greedy or lazy to fix their own house.

If we can at least make Nepal safe , then there is no place like Nepal for Nepalis. It's a different feeling to walk proud and being able to talk fluently without hesitation. now you may say you're english is perfect and you partied with white frat boys like hundred times when you were in undergrad so you 've assimilated. but hell no, you're wrong, just remember how many times people say, "what?" , "excuse me" to you in a day. they can't relate to you when you express yourself, you don't belong here.. and specially in this terrible economy people look at you like you're here to steal jobs, a thief. lol... after years of struggle you maybe able to get that blue passport , but if you don'thave education and talent to seperate yourself from the redneck label then you're doomed. if with education and your job u can't quickly and effectively seperate yourself from the ignorant mass you'll always be vulnerable to racism and hatred by them. educated people however, seem to have have more understanding.  but again remember no matter your passport is blue or green, you're a darn foreigner in this country. so do't act stuck up. hai ta .. asthu...

You don't need to be a US citizen for you son to become the US president.  Just make sure he is born on the US territory.  Matter of fact your son can be a US Presidet while you as his parents are an illegal immigrant.

I am proud to be Nepali and always will be. However, I disagree with Kalopani in regards to categorizing us (other than so-called Americans i.e. Whites/Blacks) as foreigner. Yes, it is true some treat the people with color other than white as foreigner and stare at. But those people who expose such behavior have a little knowledge of their own history that how America was originated, where their ancestors came from, and what did they do with the Cherokee Indians. Moreover, why did they have to honor American Indians as indegenious citizens of the country later in a time.

Americans Black/White, who prefer to call me as a foreigner, I always ask them a question that how their ancestor came to America as a "foreigner" or "immigrant" from all part of Europe and Africa. Aren't they foreigner by nature? If a "foreigner" tag goes away just because of being born on the American soil, why should they go by different family name? Why don't they put "American" at the end of their name? e.g. Bob American, John American, etc. etc.

I don't beleive Majority of American look at the thing the way Kalopani thinks. I have seen many American agreeing with me who know of their own History.

Change is change itself. Barack Obama is the first step in making history. It is not the end in making history in America. It is just the beginning. No, race, color, or background gonna matter to draw people on your side. It is the person's persuasive thoughts that can clearly address the need of people.

And I don't think we Nepalese fled the country because of our greed and couldn't fix our own home. Isn't it true that we are financially helping our family, relatives back home? When your home-roof is leaking and don't have your own resources to fix it on your own, what are you gonna do? Your first thought gonna be to arrange the resources so your family can leave better. Isn't that true? Do you define that as a greed?

I think, the definition of greed is you want more when you already have plenty.

Thanks.

Good part of being citizen is , if you involve in criminal activity , you will be in jail not deported.

लौ कुरा गरौ " पन्कज जोशी " कै , उ अमेरिकि नागरिक भएको भए के हुन्थ्यो ??.
