I would like people who have already got their H1b stamped from Kathmandu to share their experience with me. I went for the interview yesterday and was given a white 221g for  administrative processing  but they didnt ask me for any additional documents and did not return my passport. Anybody been through this process recently? I would like to know what the average wait time is to hear back from the US consultate. I will really appreciate responses from people who know about this.

seems like standard practice man to give these slips, baru when did u get da date for the interview from the bank ( after u applied), did they ask u for anything else ?? in the slip any additional documents ?? was ur pims already verified, What did they ask u in the interview. I think u should just be patient man and it will probably take them abt a week to get back to u.I havenot heard of anyone that has been rejected or they have not given the visa to. has anyone heard that ?? ( stories may be but do u actually know the person who got rejected and why Anyone ??

H1bktm,
You will be fine, same thing happened to me last year. My interview was on Wednesday and they called me back on Monday. I was told that some updates are required in my status which cannot be done from Kathmandu. On one of the white sheet that they gave you has a number for consulate section. They have specified time window for the external calls. I called them Thursday and Friday. And each day,I told them that I was asked to call. And each time I was put on hold and was given updates later. There will be two lines, one for English speaking people and other for non English speaking people. Go in English speaking line, that line is easier to get connected. Good luck and update us on the outcome.

i had same problem, they didn't keep any of my docs including passport and i had to wait about 10 days.

call them everyday and remind them, and ask the person talking to you to ask the interview officer to resubmit your request again if they are waiting for any information from USCIS.

Thank you everybody for the response. I have a good news to share. My visa was approved today. Luckily the wait time for me was only 3 days. I wish good luck to everybody who are going to apply for their visa. Let me know if you have any questions.

I was planning to go to Nepal between - Jan 15th and Feb 15th. I got a H1B approval from my company (which is not a consultancy) and I work as a full time employee. I wanted to know what kind of documents are required from me, as well as my company.

Also, I am planning to do a Masters degree (distance learning) from Boston University once I come back (self pay). I wonder whether it would be a good idea to include this acceptance documentation or not include it.

Please post your experience and required documents. Also, it would be nice to have Sajha admin make this post on top of the list or something in the Immigration section. I checked other websites for this, such as murti, and others, and did find some resources. However, I think that Visa rules are different for different countries.

Thank you.

h1bktm congrats.

I recently got approved for H1b through a legit, although fairly small and new, company. I'm planning to visit ktm during christmas break since my work officially doesn't start until 1st week of Jan '10. Would you recommend to me to travel back home (i don't have my h1b visa stamped yet)? I'm curious as far as submitting pay stubs and w-2 returns to the consulate as i will not have them. Any suggestion from anyone would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I need to get my satmping done while i'll be in Nepal and recently I came to know that a new memo has been passed by USCIS on Jan 8th 2010 for Employer-Employee relationship for H1B petitions http://www.uscis.gov/USCIS/Laws/Memoranda/2010/H1B%20Employer-Employee%20Memo010810.pdf

Please inform me if you know about this or did any one get their H1 stampimg done after this memo has been passed or anyone stucked in Nepal due to this new rule? And also I have heard and read in Murthy forum that lot of Indian's under H1 were sent back home from the port of entery of US.
