I am taking spring 10 semester off. When I asked my international student advisor, he said that I had nothing to worry and I dont need any sort of documents for sem break. He told me when I will be returning back, he will be sending me a new I-20 and that will do it. Is there something else that need to be taken care of or my advisor is right??

If I were you, I would rather take signed I-20 with me. Why you want to send I-20 to you? Check the date of I-20, and if it is valid until you arrive then make signed and take with you along with letter from Advisor stating the reason for breaking the semester.

i did the same thing.. make sure that you take the Valid I-20 that has Summer 2010 or Fall 2010.. seems like in your case it will be summer 2010.. and also let your DSO sign the letter saying that you have been in school and will be travelling during blah blah period and in full status... When i took it they made me those stuff.. i don't know bout yours.. and i didn't had any problems returning.. 

I have worked with my ss no as most Nepalese do. So, will that make any problem?

No. You won't have any problems even if you worked using your SS number. SS number is mainly related to Tax purpose. You're good to go man.

wow thanks for the clear andclean language to tell us that using social won't matter !!i hope he worked 20 hours within the school or during the summer or worked with economic hardship. just so you guys know sajha.com is not only limited to Nepali language speaking people. my previous international student advisor was fond of this site as she visited Nepal several times. i also talked to an asylee who said his officer was fond of this site too. i just beg , please don't do anything that's not supposed to be done, if u have done or were forced to do something that was not supposed to be done, pl don't try to boast it on a public site like this. it can sometimes seriously back fire you, or make the entire community look like cheaters. but i wish you all the luck in the world for your safe travel back.
