In my last thread, I asked about taking semester break and what sort of documents will I need while I am travelling. One of our friend told that I can take that paper which states that I am taking sem break because of this and that. So, today I went to my International Advisor and asked about it. Well, I asked him first specifically if I had to take summer classes if I take sem break this spring. He said that I dont need to and can go forward taking break so I did the same and booked all tickets and now its 1 week left to go. Now, he says that I must take summer classes and that should be staying in college. I really can't do that because its summer and need to work. When I reminded him of what he said, he told sorry. Thats it. Any suggestions what should I do??

in summer, it is not compulsory for an international std to register as a full time student, so you can register as a part time student and work outside...or even if you are planning to be fully dedicated to work, ask ur university, they might be offering some special courses like online courses...

this way u will be on status as well as u will be working off campus..

He says that it must be 12 credits and I should be in school. Before he said that I should not take any summer courses and can continute from fall. I just skipped my Residential Assistant position and other jobs because of this break. Now I cannot continue back in even if I come back this spring. My advisor really dumped me in deep sh*t. I have recorded all the conversations with him that I did all these because of his suggestions. Should I sue him or any other suggestion?

I think that is the rule. If your are taking both semester then in between summer registration is not required but if you take a break you just can not come for summer and not be in the school. you can offcourse come back for fall. But offcourse there might be way around - anybody?

bro...first off all why do u want to take a semester break...if  u know that u r going to be in deep shit...why not dump the idea of taking semester break and return the ticket...u might loose $400-$500. Or just go to nepal and come back before the semester starts....then u r out of your deep shit..

wait a minute...did u record that with the consent of ur adviser or without..if u recorded without his consent and he doesn't know that he was being recorded, then even telling him that you have his recorded conversations means u r in even bigger deep shit...as far as the suing goes, on what basis u r going to charge him...he doesn't have a written agreement with you that he is supposed to be 100% correct in his suggestions/advices... there is no such agreement between you and your adviser....he could simply say "sorry" that he had thought otherwise...next, no lawyer would be willing to handle such case...bro u will easily loose thousands if not hundreds of dollars.

Im in state university.

Come back after summer for fall semester and you should be fine. The only thing is if you have not registered for Spring semester you can not stay in USA during summer without becoming fulltime student.

If you want to come during Summer you have to get into summer classes.
