you can apply for CPT,
it is the same thing but they call it CPT if you are still in school.

oh, and you still have to take 12 credits to maintain status, even though you work 40 hrs a week.

i hope your work and school are close by or you have plenty of options for online classes.

good luck

afterthought:
this might more of an answer you are looking for :

are you going to graduate summer 2010? if yes there might be a trick that can be used in your situation.
sometimes schools let you graduate before completing all your required classes, mostly if it is only a couples of classes left which you promice to take in the following summer/semester.
You should talk to your academic advisor, careers office in your school and your international advisor right away. find a way to receive your certificate and apply for OPT.

night elf

you are completely wrong. if a person is in CPT, OPT or internship they are automatically considered full time student. students have to register for only 1 credit class (you can register more if you would like) in order to remain in status. CPT and internships are directly related with the field of study that a student does so he will be writing reports about the experience and learnings for the one credit claa that he has registered.

i have had internships and registered one credit for the semester. you gotta make sure that you sign your I 20 and have it approved by the DSO and program director of your subject.
