I am a computer science student. Currently in a community college. Planning to transfer next year. I have about 11 months remaining before i go to university. Therefore, I want to learn something that will be beneficial for my degree as well as to get a part time job while in university. I am jack of all and master of none. I know computer repairs to the best and i have basic knowledge of Java, C programming. I also know basic networking. I am decent in photoshop. I want to buildup my knowledge in one of these : web designing, java and Networking. Anyone who can input some suggestions will be heartily appreciated...

Networking/Cisco/System Admin (Linux/solaris) is recession proof job. Concentrate in this field with first priority.

In programming, Java is good, C++ is better. Depends if you enjoy programming or not. Job market is so so. Programmers are the first people to be kicked off first when recession hits.

Web Designing - Php with MySQL is fine. I can recommend you this as well. But this is not that high paying job... and demand is not that much as it was couple of years back.

just my thought !

Upadharya,

transfer to a university and apply for the internship. That will give you an ample opportunity to horn your technical skills. Regarding your question whether you will be able to land on a job after you pass the networking certification exam, it is hard to speculate at this point. Definitely, being certified is always a plus point but that is not the only factor employers consider during the job interview.
Choose the field that interest you the most. Involve in the project on your own and excel the field.
Good luck, brother!
